Has anyone taken that heat resistant material off the bottom of the stock hood and attached it to the bottom of their fiberglass/cf hood? I was thinking about doing this on my CF Invader hood to kind of reduce the amount of heat the hood sees now that I am turbo'd.

I figured I would wrap my mani and put the matting on my CF hood and see if it helps out enough to even make it worth the effort.

Does anyone know who might sell that material in sheets?

I wouldn't wrap your manifold, it doesn't let heat dissapate like it's supposed to. Jet hot coat it

some people wrap their manifolds. Dynamat sells that hood insulation, but it is really expensive last I checked.

Even if it is expensive, it'd be worth it. My hood looks like complete ass from all the cracks that it got during the winter from my turbo getting so hot and the air being so cold.

I have a Predator hood and I haven't had any trouble with it. Most of the vents are right over the turbo and manifold though, so I'd like to think it helps get the heat out quick. I also don't drive my car every day and when I do park it I open the hood.

Use the OEM gst/gsx hood mat. I have for the past year and don't have any issues from the turbo now. My last hood cracked and bowed in the center. Check my pic... that's what it used to look like.

yah mine has the vent right above the turbo as well, but I would like to take extra precautionary measures to keep my hood looking good.

take it from me...shield the underside of your hood before driving around with that turbo kit on it. i have the same predator hood you have and the same turbo you have and my hood has a brown spot where the paint has burned, bubbled and cracked from the heat. dynamat sells the sheets mentioned about for under $100. can't remember where i saw them for sale though.

So dynamat will hold up to the heat? I will go gets some, because I don't want to buy another cf hood just yet!
