82511, RE: VA Turbo Install (NEED HELP!) Posted by got_NX, Feb-11-05 05:25 AM
Man take your time....Which kit did you buy? I got a stars kit and it came with alot of junk! I replaced 90% of the kit after i got it and took 2 months to install it the right way. But that is only working on it like 2 days a week. If you got the stars kit you might want to get a flex section, turbine gasket, manifold gasket, oil gasket, braided oil return line, missing link, maybe even send the down pipe out to be jet hot coated it's $15.00 a ft to be jet hotted inside and out the manifolds are 95.00 for jethot coating. But that is up to you.

82554, RE: VA Turbo Install (NEED HELP!) Posted by Aggression, Feb-12-05 01:05 AM
sure everyones welcome to come. I really am hoping to have some experienced turbo installers come as well to help the install go smoothly!
|
82557, RE: VA Turbo Install (NEED HELP!) Posted by eclipsekaiser, Feb-12-05 05:44 AM
Should be doable with 3 guys. I installed my own kit in 1.5 days. Damn Taco-Bell gave me the runs in the process.
hardest part IMO was wiring up the boost gauge with the stupid autometer nylon POS.
Take your time on the fuel system. Don't want to screw that one up.

I'll help you for sure. I'd like to stop by some time soon before the install to hang out and make sure you have everything you need before we start the install. I've helped on a few different turbo installations including xtremers's and soulcontroller's kits awhile ago and a couple others as well who aren't on 2gnt. Send me an email and let me know if you have time before next weekend.

82580, RE: VA Turbo Install (NEED HELP!) Posted by Aggression, Feb-12-05 11:15 AM
yah man, you can come over tomorrow if you have time, or any day next week after 5. I just went and picked up everything on the list for the fuel system today. Only thing I don't have right now is the Walbro 255fp. I am getting ready to order that Monday morning, so I might have it by Friday, but that is a big maybe.
Anyone know where I could get one that ships them out fast that I might get it by Friday...the walbro 255fp that is?
Email me at goodgrieff_99@yahoo.com and I will hit you up with directions to my house and my cell!
Thanks again!

Aggression Matt_95tgs LIL FTO GreenRicer Ready4Dis - Portsmouth, VA (just need directions). I'll have to check if I have duty on those days (in the navy), but count me in for at least one day. I'm hoping to be ordering my turbo kit in the near future (within the next 2 weeks) and I already placed my megasquirt order with Mr. Slick, so I wouldn't mind coming to help (and learn) a bit about the install.
Also, let us all know if you need us to bring anything (tools wise), i've got a hydraulic jack and some jack stands, my air compressor and impact wrench, etc. Just let me know if you need me to try to fit them in my car :P.

That is a nice offer...Just remember I just installed a kit and I'm having problems. So you might get the car in and turbo on..but it might not go anywhere.

Hope you get it running soon, and would like to see pics of your install! Yes its a great offer and I am checking with everyone to see if they would be interested or just do it in my driveway!

83101, RE: VA Turbo Install (NEED HELP!) Posted by got_NX, Feb-24-05 09:46 AM
The install is kind of simple but yet a pain. You see all kinds of posts on here for little things like fuel, vac leaks, FCD or missing link. All these things probably occur on every install and need to be trouble shot. I would some how make a plan on what order your going to install parts to make sure everything is together right the first time around. I also would start using p-blaster now on manifold and exhaust so easy the trouble of removing. I p-blastered mine for two week ahead of time, it came off easy.

83117, RE: VA Turbo Install (NEED HELP!) Posted by got_NX, Feb-24-05 10:59 PM
Yeah, I found my self out buy tools doing my install...that wasn't figured into putting the kit on. These projects nickle and dime you. I did alot of up-grading on parts that cost me also took a loss on new parts that came with the kit just to upgrade.

BTW rucr8z2 maybe when I get my clutch and 3" exhaust in a couple weeks I could take you up on that offer. A lift would really come in handy to install both of those!

I really want to thank Matt_95tgs, GreenRicer, and wite96gs for coming out and helping with the install.
It was a beautiful day saturday for a turbo install and then sat night got sooo cold there was actually frost on the parts. We worked until about midnight on Sat and stopped and had a few beers. Then started around 1:30 today and finished it up pretty quickly. We only had a few issues to deal with overall.
I will be sure to post pics either tomorrow or deffinately Tuesday.
Thanks again everyone!!!
