i havent done a comp. test yet, but i pulled the spark plug wires today just out of curiosity. 2,3 and 4 were all bone dry, but the #1 spark plug well was pretty full of oil (about the same amount as i had in cylinder 3 before my rebuild when i had a blown ring). is this normal blowby from the rings not seating yet? i know a comp. test will tell me for sure later on, but i am worried about this now and cant doa comp. test until i put some miles on it. (only has 20 miles since the rebuild because of my high idle which i fixed tonight. it was a blown IAC for those who are wondering).

Suck that shit out and replace the o-ring. Thats pretty common from what I've seen, and usually on #1.

I have to agree, usually oil in the spark plug wells is due to a leak in the valve cover gasket. Same thing happened to me. When I installed my seals during my engine build-up I coated them all with blue Hylamar. Stuffs kind of sticky but works great to seal things. I have nearly 10K on the engine now and nothing that was coated with Hylamar has ever leaked.

Yup, what those guys said, when you flip your valve cover on the little O-rings fall out all the time. Replace it and put some gasket sealer in there to help hold it in place while you put your cover on, you'll be good to go. :)

Yep they are right, I had the same thing happen in my #2. I just put a little greese in the grove then put in your O-Ring and this keep the O-Ring from shifting when you flip it over to install the VC. The greese burns off and you are good to go.

Geo - I used gasket sealer (a very small amount) and I'm 700 miles later. You might be right though, it might get a better seat without it. I don't think those little O-rings are that critical though, other than if they are not there of course ....
