i have a k26 turbo and i have just been offered a stock starion turbo which would be better looking for about 5psi on stock internals but will upgrade in the future

Judging from your F/S thread I'm guessing that you're going to use the Starion turbo. :shrug

How many miles is on the Starion turbo...they stop making those cars in....? Chances are the K26 is newer and less abused.

Sell both of them and get a real turbo ? :shrug

That would be nice but both turbos were free so i will make one of them work for now. Dads a welder so manifolds arnt a problem so switching to a real turbo later wont be to much of a hassel. No that wasnt my k26 mines off of an audi that was one i was selling for a friend and sold it localy for $100. Yeah still no one really answered my question.

It's 5 psi do0d. You're not talking about a t-78H or some shit so either is going to do the same thing. Just think about what flange is on that turbo and that is doing to dictate your manifold and future turbos.

The k26 would be better imo. They're built better and made for the low boost.

I understand what you are saying, "not everybody needs a full drag turbo."

Sorry for the vague response, but if you are going to get a "custom" setup why don't you go with stock DSM hairdryer turbo or T3, 16G's that bolt up to the manifolds(or with adapter flanges) that are available on the net? The turbo (GT-28R) that you got is perfect for autocross and track courses. It's only a couple hundred bucks more, just wait till you have the money. Going turbo is not like putting a cold air intake or cam gears on. Your engine will forever be changed unless you don't give a s**t about it. When you put a custom setup on your car, the cost of the manifold/IC piping/downpipe/Flanges etc.. is not worth it unless you plan on keeping that turbo.

well, the starion turbo is a TC05-12A 8CM2
if that helps any.

it's still ~14 years old unless it is a rebuilt.

I completely agree. I would sell them both and look into getting a turbo that was actually meant to go on a DSM. Think about it, you can get the s16g from HRC with a manifold for liek $700. Sell both turbos, pocket around $300 (by selling them to enthusiasts who could better use them), and throw in some more cash on a better combo that will cause you less headaches in the end. I mean, how upgradable will your new custom kit be, if you have to stick to buying turbos that are either that old or that unique?

thats a good point i never really looked at it in that much detail but todayi went looking for a real turbo and found 2 but the t3 i found was just rebuild. The compressor wheel is a t3 60 trim and the compressor housing is a 42ar . The turbine side is a 48ar with a standard T3 flange. $300
