8170, installing gauges Posted by RAIZIN, Sep-08-01 12:14 PM
I'm installing some more gauges which include water and oil temp and was wondering where you guys ran your wires through the firewall. with my other gauges I just added extra wire and ran them through the same slit in the steering column boot for the boost gauge. Are you drilling holes? and where? Also what line did you use to get a 12v signal with the key was turned on? I used the same one for the radio.. but if you know a better.. let me know.

well i just go through the steering.. but drilling a hole isnt a big deal at all... for the 12V- i use the cig lighter for the voltmeter and the EGT power. I use the dash lights for the gauge lights.

I run all my electrical wires through where the factory harness passes through the firewall on the passenger side floor. The only thing I ran through the steering boot is the boost gauge vacuum line. For power and ground I never leave the interior.
