Hey guys, in light of all the crap i have read others going through with HRC and STAR kits, i think im just gonna piece a custom kit together. It allows me to personallize it and i dont have to buy it all at once. my Problem is im not sure which parts are compatable/will go with, which other parts, If you guys could help and tell me which parts are good with which others...i would appreciate it. Like T3/04 with (enter name)'s intake + (enter name)'s FMIC + (enter name)'s IC piping.... thanks in advance guys!!! o im willing to spend about 3-3.5k on a turbo, gonna run around 8-10 psi daily driver, just to let you know about how much i would like the kit to be around...

if you do go for custom, everyhing is CUSTOM.

The only thing you will need to know about BRAND name is which is better!

Pipes you cannot buy! if it's a custom kit, you have to cut and weld.

FMIC, I use spearco, but all others can be used, it's all depend on how you make your IC piping.

The only thing you have to worry about (in terms on brand name) is your Fuel management system, turbo charger, and exhaust manifold. the rest is just all custom stuff.

I dont know exactly what you mean by "Crap" that people have delt with on the HRC and Star kits to be honest. I think you are going to have a much harder time "Piecing" together a kit, and then actually putting it together (Im assuming you dont have experience as well, sorry If Im wrong on that part though.) Then buying a HRC or Star kit. I have had my HRC kit for about a year now and have had NO problems. The only thing that was replaced was the Cartech with the Vortech SFMU. And that is a very common thing to upgrade too. Sure buying a kit is a little more expensive.. but not by that much. There are alot of things to be said about HRC, STAR, AND Custom... so read up more on ALL 3 before you decide..

Dont take this the wrong way, but you're being quite silly!
fdo you have prior turbo knowledge or experience?

1st: there is no "crap" with HRC or star kits. individual people may have individual issues, but that is in no way reflective of the kits themselves.

2nd: for the money you're willing to dump, you are light years better off with a kit that has the R&D behind it. However if you want a custom kit SOLEY for the enjoyment (and MAJOR fucking headache) of piecing it all together and making it work, then i can understand that. My first kit was a custom job.

3rd: you will not save enough money to justify a DIY kit. and for the money that you will save, its not enough to justify the headache... trust me.

4th: if you spend some serious time in the search function you will learn more than you ever wanted to know, about this topic. thats said not as a dick, just as an "its there if you look for it"

5th: brand names are just that... brand names. they do not always equate to better quality, just more of your hard earned $$$. a generic IC of equal design is just as effective as an brand name one, just a few hundred less. Plus, for the most part when doing a custom kit, its all a matter of opinion as to what to use... and how to do it. its all up to you...

All the above is completely correct!

But just adding this, if you love cars, and you love them so much you want to completely understand them, AND you have the time, and equipment/tools for you available, then doing it as a custom turbo kit will give you the ability to LEARN a TON! (and of course it's fun too - but with headaches)

I did mine COMPLETELY custom, from DP to the entire exhaust, turbo setup and all IC piping. I never have any turbo experience before this. But what I did was, SEARCH. I read over 6 months, and decided to go for it, it won't be easy, but once you are done, you know you can do anything after that!!!

Custom kit: It will be hard to do it for a first timer but I'm having to change everything for my goal...

It all depends on how much HP you want and what you are using your car for (daily driver, weekend, track only)

I pieced mine, and it runs like I just tried to mug it. If you want some suggestions or help, IM me or something. See if we cant get you set up. This also was my first time doing anything concerning a turbo. Its not hard you just need to study up and know what your goals are. Just like everybody else says, your goal cant just be wanting to have a 8-10 psi daily driver.
