Ok, I know my oxygen sensor is bad, i am getting codes for hi voltage and lack of activity for my upstream sensor. But I don't see how this would cause my problem, although I am probably wrong. If I am driving the car hard it is fine, but if I start puttering around it misses and hesitates and ceratin throttle positions. and when is starts doing that it idles absolutely terrible. The idle just keeps bouncing up and down like it has a huge cam in it. and I can hear this very loud sucking sound coming out of the the throttle body. not like normal. it sounds like the suction they use at the dentist but louder. any ideas?

Good Lord.
Change the damn o2 sensor that IS throwing a code and just a guess,
it might go away :shrug
Your o2 sensor along with every other sensor tell the ecu how to run the motor.
how the fuck do you think it's going to run if a sensor isn't working?

If you can hear a suction sound by the TB, then take a look at any vac lines that go to it, and even around it. A quick shot of carb cleaner around the area of the noise can help find a leak(engine will respond to the carb cleaner). I would first check the EVAP vac line at the TB. It's directly on top of the TB, and has a 90 degree bend of rubber vac line that likes to break. Oh, and yes, change that 02 sensor ASAP. Could be that, or your vac leak, or both combined together.

You say it's fine when you drive hard? Probably because the ECU goes into closed loop mode when you do that. In closed loop the ecu does not use the o2 sensor input. So when it's in open loop it's using the bunk signal from the o2 sensor. So change your flippin o2! ;)

Ditto on what ETX said...just swap the words "closed" and "open". Closed loop is when it does listen to the O2 and open loop is when it ignores the O2.

LOL Beat me to it!!! Change the O2 and track down your vacuum leak. Once those are fixed, I'd put $50 on it saying it'll run better (assuming fuel is tuned correctly).

well, see it is not a vaccum leak. the sucking sound is through the throttle body itself. sorry if i wasn't clear on that. if you put your ear up to the tb it will almost make you deaf it is so loud.
