81188, She says my piping is too big, lol Posted by DJ420a, Jan-08-05 05:34 PM
I did alot of searching and Ive found that this matter is a toss up. So I will give you guys my setup and you tell me what you think. Im wondering if my 2.5" IC piping is too big.
Precision SC61 turbo .63 A/R 76 trim Tial 38mm HKS SSQ SFMU Stock Injectors for now 2.5" DP straight to back Crane 0014 turbo cams 10.5:1 JE's
Is there anything I need to add? Im running boost off of the WG, so its only about 6 psi. Do you guys think I should get smaller diameter piping? Once Mr.Slick and I install the MS, I will be puttin bigger injectors in and upping the boost.

Most people run a low compression piston with their turbo setups. There is a greater chance of detonation with high compression pistons. High compression pistons are more commonly used in nitrous and all motor set ups.

I think your piping is fine for that size turbo once you run higher boost. Why not upgrade to a full 3" Exhaust?

I knew that, I didnt know what the "Mmmmmmm" meant.
SO even with the low boost Im running, my piping size is is still benefiting me?

It shouldn't affect performance much, if at all, at that boost level. Anyway, you'll be turning up the boost eventually, so you'll benefit from the 2.5" pipes. Do you have it 2.5" straight from the turbo to i/c and i/c to the throttle body, or is it staggered? For instance, is it 2 1/4" from the turbo to the i/c inlet, then 2.5" from the i/c outlet to the T/B?

Everything is 2.5"

you'll get better response and more whp at a lower boost setting than someone at 8:8:1 compression....kicks ass.

With a compressor that large you should be right on. How big is the compressor outlet? 2.5"?

hmm well I'm running 10.5:1, 2.5 is a little big I'm running partial 2.5 on mine and it would have weaker response and the bov would flutter but that was before I rebuilt my engine though. I think it should be fine.
