I saw a vid just recently posted that had the greddy type rs and its clean sounding like I like, but want to hear all that I can before I buy one!

i have a turbo xs rfl and its crazy loud. I was in the tunnel and it sounds like a 12 guage shot gun going off. I scared the crap out of a lady and all most made her serve it to the wall. hahaha

The RFL is babbage. Way too loud, annoying. I can be in front of my friends car and hear the damn thing...while driving.

Type S is sweet. At high boost levels it sounds like a laser. lol

I'd like to hear the Type RS, can you link the clip?

yeah, i don't think my hks sounds anything like all of the hks clips either.

maybe if i didn't have the bov's vacuum line tee-d off another vac line.

Nope...it has that stupid turkey gobble sounding shit and then it sounds like that. No matter how I adjust the screw it still does it.

Remember, your blow off valve will sound different under different boost levels. I love my Greddy type S, it is really distinct because it is very loud, but it has a sound like a "dying seagull". This is at 8psi. When you start putting 10psi+ the thing starts sounding bad-ass and you hear less of just a loud tweat -more like an loud air swooshing tweat. Will def turn heads -I love driving through campus and scaring the shit out of large groups of people on tours.

Well at 15psi it sounds like a damn turkey gobble and then the high pitched whistle.

I went and got the TurboXS Type H34 Bypass valve. It's basically a RFL, but without the "horn" on the output. It has just a round port, so you can connect a hose to it, pretty much what a lot of the 4g63 guys use because of the MAS sensor. So I just routed the output of the BOV to the air intake pipe before the turbo inlet. For me, I found at least 2 good things becasue of this:
--it's not so damn loud. I know lots of people like annoying loud BOV's, but it gets "annoying" driving all the time, so routing it to the intake pipe quiets it down a bit. It's actually still very, very audible, sounds really nice, and a clean, sharp bov sound.
--second, I can set the spring tension on the piston a bit softer, so that it "leaks" a little at idle, which completely rids the gobble effect of the BOV when set too tight, at lower boost levels. I can be even just under 0 psi, and it will still have a clean BOV sound.

Rerouting it also, from what I can tell, helps keep the turbo spooled up a bit between shifts. Not real important for the S16G since it stays spooled pretty well already, but it did help nonetheless..
