80866, t4 turbo on stock bottem end? Posted by mlsbka, Dec-29-04 08:31 AM
sup guyz....i can get a T4 turbo for really cheap and was thinking of running it on my stock bottem end (190 compression all across) at 5psi with vortech FMU, walboro255lph, but no IC for a couple of months. Im planning on rebuilding this up coming summer so im really leaning towards running the t4...only thing that holds me back from doing it is as i researched i didnt find anybody running that big of a turbo not even the guyz that have their bottem ends built and running "advanced" fuel systems. please let me know wat u guyz think

I think you're either gonna get flamed or a mod is going to lock this thread. Don't ask me why.

The only thing I may be concerned with is keeping an eye on the A/F mixture for proper combustion with that size turbo,(Vortech and some tuning should take care of that)

At 5 PSI? I think the 255lph is too much. And as far as the vortech FMU go w/ a 6:1. Most people sell them w/ a 12:1 which is way too rich. Just do your research. Do a compression test on and on to make sure the rings are okay. Take Care.

^^^^This is just silly... First off a t4 is the same size compressor that is on every single star kit, so this turbo is not uncommon with the exception that the star kit uses the hybrid t3/t4. So that means your turbo will spool slower than the star kit. Now for the misinformation. 1. You do need the whalbro pump cause if you don't get it your gonna blow the thing up. Your stocker will not supply enough fuel for the boost. (the regulator is what controls the fuel supply anyway so I don't see how a fuel pump could be too much??) 2. You do need to use the 12:1 disk with an FMU regardless of the boost you run. That's the reason the star is sold with the 12:1 regulator. Assuming of course we are talking stock injectors. And please for the love of go please search these questions first I think there are even a few custom kits on the board that run a regular T4 so your answers were there bro. Welcome to the board and have a great time...

Dude, I wish. This is the same asshat that was trying to sell $900 "complete" fake turbo kits in the for sale/wanted section for the past 2 or 3 months. I find it strangely ironic, and extremely amusing that he now posts in the turbo forum about what turbo to buy and mods are needed to run it. LMAO.
MLSbka heres a tip-

This thread is streaming with bullshit. Only people who responded and made any sense on this subject is kirby and tim. Guy who started this thread was looking to rip people off with the kit and the guy who said the walbro pump may be too much doesn't seem to know too much or jack shit.
