I have been searching for these answers I am about to ask but have not found one that is directly related to the my case scenario. I am not saying its not out there, I am saying I couldn't find it.

I know people get shot down and there will be some people that will say research it you fuck!!!!

I am debating several things in my quest to turbo my car right the first time.

First off I have a 97 GS with 76k on it. All stock mind you as far as performance goes.

I want to get a used HRC stage 2 or peice together one that will give my what I am shooting for, which you will learn by reading below:

WHAT I WANT OUT OF THE TURBO SETUP:
I want to run about 5psi daily and still be able to bump it up to 12-15psi safely if I so choose too. As of right now I have all stock internals/motor.

MOTOR:
If I understand correctly my best bet would be to replace the pistons with forged JE piston. I have heard our rods can take a good bit of abuse and I would be safe keeping the stock rods, but crower rods are recommended.

FUEL:
I am a bit shaky on the fuel setup, but from what I have read I would probably need a walboro 255 fp and larger Injectors (I haven't a clue about injector sizes for what psi you want to run). I have heard many people talk about doing the 8 injector setup, but I would rather stay with the basic 4 setup. So now with larger injectors means I need a S-AFC to I can tune it correctly.

TRANNY:
At least a stage 2 clutch is recommended to hold while boosting at 15psi. Alum flywheel also recommended but not nessacary and not recommended if you sit in a lot of traffic as I will because its my daily driver.

TURBO:
I was planning on the HRC Stage 2 and upgrade the side mount to a front mount. Upgrade to the big 16g turbo. Upgrade the bov, because I have heard the one that comes with the kit is plastic and is prone to leakin. Get new dp because the one that comes with the Hahn kit just plain down right sucks! Turbo timer, boost controller!

All your help is very much appreciated as I have been searching, but its hard to get the same case scenario since everyone kinda wants something a bit different.

Thanks!

Research it you Fuck!!!!

just kidding... (whoa, did i just say that) here are some basic answers to start you off with.

1. Golden rule of thumb: no boost higher than 7 psi daily on stock guts. notice i said rule of thumb, some have run higher than 7 for a period of time)

2. Built motor (proporly built) can take 12-15psi easy and still want more. if your build it, dont half-ass the job. get the rods as well, its good for peice of mind.

3. there isn't a "correct" fuel system out there for turboing our cars. its a matter of preference/tuneibility/and knowledge. an SFMU with bigger injectors work great for some but not others. the SAFC is of limited value, but some like it. anyway you choose, the golden rule for fule: the more boost ya want, the more fuel ya need. this particular fuel question is HONESTLY a "do a search" topic, not as an asshole, but as 'the info is on here and in abundance'. i promise.

4. a good clutch is recommended for sure! again, preference. aluminum flywheel not needed, but nice to have.

5. as far as a turbo, if your lookin for an HRC that you plan to upgrade on, look on here for used kits that have already been done. they already come with the Super 16g, and from the sounds of it, you wont need anything bigger. im putting down just under 300whp on one.

and for the turbo section Golden new guy Rule: By the book "Maximum boost" By Corkey Bell. Its the beginners bible!

tim97rs is dead on whith what i was thinking.

daily driver, you may want to revise that plan. it's really that that bad once you've got allt he bugs out, but it could really hurt you if it you have troubble installing the kit. i did a custom kit and it took me alot of time and effort to work out the bugs. i would have been screwed if i didn't have my SUV.

i've been running 10 psi intercooled with stock internals for a year now. i figure hey the engine's going to go sometime, i might as well help it along.

Im in the same boat as you. I have had my rs for about a year and its still my daily driver. I have been researching turbo options since I got it. My decisions was not to rush anything but to start with a good and solid rebuild and then put on the exact turbo system that i want to begin with not a kit that I have to swap parts on for another year before its where I want it. So my advice is to be patient thats what I am doing and when its done youll have exactly what you want and have the time/knowledge to tune it perfectly. Good luck man and let me know how things are going.

Very good advice, and you are in the same boast as myself.

I am probably going to replace the pistons, rods, and the clutch first.

Then buy the everything from the HRC Stage 2 except the fuel system, downpipe, bov, smic. Because those are the parts I would be upgrading from the HRC Stage 2 kit to be right were I want to be.

My biggest lack in knowledge in this whole setup is what size injectors I want to get. I can honestly say this is one thing that I definately need to do a lot more research on. Like most guys here, you tell them what your setup is and they could tell you what the perfect injector would be for that setup from experience and research.

I have had my car for about 3 years now and I have wanted to turbo my car for a while, but just didn't have the funds at the time. I actually still don't, but I am better capable of saving up now. If I build the motor and upgrade the clutch first, then buy a turbo I will probably be turbo'd by next summer...not this summer coming up, but the summer after that. Damn I wish I made more!

I am to the point where I NEED the power now, I just can't take it anymore. I am so close to selling my car and getting a GSX.

^^^ I agree with you guys. I had my car for few years now and I always wanted my car to go fast. Never had money to turbo or rebuild, so I started off with simple nitrous which I still run now. I finally started saving and now I'm looking to build a solid motor first, then turbo or more nitrous. good luck man! atleast your car looks good! :thumbsup
