79869, oil feed line / t fitting... sizes for connectors and best deal?
Posted by pirotlord, Nov-30-04 10:49 PM
I am piecing my own turbo kit and preping my car so I am trying to install the oil feed line while the head is off. Could anyone throw me a link to a site or auction for a cheap, proper oil feed line? I also need to know where I can get the proper T fiting and what size it should be. Thanks!

I dont have my turbo yet but I also the same info on the sizes because I would like to have the oil feed and return lines, as well as the T fitting ready when it arrives. If anyone can help with what sizes or a place where we can get them, please let us know.

Oil fittings and such
--3/8 female treaded 3/8 npt Tee
--3/8 npt male treaded insert
--3/8 to 1/8 NPT reducer
-- 1 1/16 x 1 socket to remove pressure sensor
and put teflon paste on the threads.
ace hardware had all this stuff

The parts you never hear about, the ones you spend countless hours running back and forth to get a simple fitting or line. I wish when i did my custom install I could have had access to the "forgotten parts list". Well now that I know I'll will share it with you.

Vacuum lines.

These numbers are not precise but they will give you an idea

--3/16” X 3ft line for the vacuum ports out of the intake manifold
--1/4 “ X 6 ft. Most of the turbo accessories will accept this size, BOV, FPR.
--3/8 X 6 ft. If you pan on running a Catch Can, you need this.

The Autometer boost gauge uses a 1/8 line, it will fit into the hole on a ¼” Tee.

--Box of vacuum fittings, should get the job done.
--¼ and ½ packet of hose clams can’t imagine life without these.

Fuel

If you plan to run any kind of FPR, you’ll need to do something with your return fuel line. I did this on a 95 so for your application it will be different to some degree.

Info for a 95 modle
--¼” X? Fuel line, just depends on where you want to mount it.

--4AN to hose fitting – "on the socketless fitting for rubber hose either use the brand specific line with them or use electronic fuel injection hose clamps with the slip covers removed....not regular hose clamps. there is a big difference"(JadedSilver) .
--4AN to 6AN fitting, for the Vortec, the housing has a 6AN tapped hole.

Now if you’re going to want to run a fuel pressure gauge on your fuel rail. !Remember to remove Schrader(sp?) valve before install!

for off the test port~
--Jegs 0-100 PSI fuel pressure gauges 1/8-npt threads.
--4 AN coupler, mounts to test port threads.
--4 AN to 1/8-npt fitting
--1/8-npt coupler

or in line
-- 6AN fitting with taped 1/8 NPT treads.
--Jegs 0-100 PSI fuel pressure gauges 1/8-npt threads.

easier and better of the two options

now I know I’m not an expert on the 96 or newer but I can give you an idea.
You’ll need to run the return fuel line out of the test port, probably not the best way to do it but it’s your only option for now. Remember to remove Schrader valve before install!

--4AN coupler, mounts to test port
--4AN to 6AN fitting
--Two 6 AN to hose fitting
--6AN coupler
--6 AN inline fuel pressure gauge fitting
-- Fuel pressure gauge
-- ¼ “ X 20ft fuel line ~ you’ll need a return line back to the tank.
--3/8 fuel line hose for 6AN fittings. ? this right?

*I’ve never done an install on 96+ but I assume this is what you’ll need. pluss probably more

Oil fittings and such
--3/8 female treaded 3/8 npt Tee
--3/8 npt male treaded insert
--3/8 to 1/8 NPT reducer
-- 1 1/16 x 1 socket to remove pressure sensor

STOCK FUEL PRESSURE INFO
47-50psi @ idle and @ 0in.-Hg, should be around 60.

thanks for the info! I have a 98 so I guess i'd have to run a return line for the fuel :( is there an alternative to a fpr?

You would want something to regulate the fuel pressure when boosting and when you are not. If you are going turbo you will need something like an FMU or S-FMU. That will help a lot.
