79773, HKS SSQ ?
Posted by DJ420a, Nov-29-04 03:36 PM
Well I searched and couldnt find anything, so if you can find something, just point in that direction. Anyways Im finally boosted and I must add its freakin kicks ass. I do have a question with the BOV. I have an HKS SSQ and Im just wondering, what does adjusting the screw in and out actually do? I did get it new but no instructions. I was playing with it and I noticed that the more I back it out the more car wants to die. So I got the car running right, but Id like the BOV to have a more higher pitch than a low springy type sound. If I screw it in more will it get higher?

Thanx peeps

the adjustment screw is to adjust how easily the larger valve opens. I might have a copy of the instructions someplace i will check in the morning after work.

your car should not die out becasue of the screw, i have had mine out totally and it runs fine.

Why is it so hare for both of you to understand simple physics. The srew tightens on a spring inside the valve that holds the valve shut. pretty simple.

Well Im sorry I didnt want to tear a 300 dollar BOV apart to just learn the "simple physics". I told you I didnt get instructions. Thats why I was asking. I did finally learn about it today and I know how it works. Do you want to test me on it?

no i just dont understand how it is you are thinking on it. Its actually very simple inside and you cant damage it if you are careful.

if you want the bov louder you can remove the little difuser in the front. you will see like 10 allen screws, remove everyother srew starting at the 1 o'clock position. the outer bell with come off and inside the enter piece will slide out. one of the Exile guys shared this trick with me, i have yet to see what it sounds like.

hmm, what piece are you talking about, the purple piece or the gray part surrounding that or what?

edit - or are you talking about the outer 3-spoked thing?

yea the sound wont change when you are using the recirculation kit kit because it probably creates a restriction. take the recirculation kit off and see if your will run without it. I have seen a lot of the chicago dsm guys run without the recirc kit. I know jeff gets pissed about the idea but i know of many that do it with no noticeable problems.

i have, it wants to die if i let off the gas. i have no idea HOW it would work without it, unless the maf isn't reading the right air flow in the first place. you should post a video of your friends cars.

i don't mean to derail this thread or anything, but the thread starters question has been answered soo..
