79548, I'm purchasing the Vortech SFMU ....
Posted by techboy, Nov-22-04 06:46 AM
Like the subject says, I'm finally going to make the upgrade from the Cartech to the Vortech SFMU. I plan to pick one up at Summit sometime this week. I remember reading the post below a while back about possibly needing to order a bleed valve as well. Do I need to order that as well, or does it come with everything I need? Can someone clear this up for me? TIA

Don't the HRC kits come with a bleed valve for the cartech? I know you can use the bleed valve that comes with the hrc kit. Or you can build one like I did!

Yeah, my Cartech came with the bleed valve. Just swap it over.

Are you replying to him ^^^^ or me ... b/c if you have an unused SFMU I'd definitaley be interested.

When you guys say the bleed valve is swapable, are you referring to the little knurled set screw on the side of the Cartech that adjusts rising rate fuel pressure?

So, I'm assuming that the Vortech doesn't come with one and that if I want a new one I need to buy that as well .... ?

the brass knurled valve from the Cartech is the very same "bleed valve" you can swap on to the SFMU. Use it.

I'm sure I can figure it out when it comes, but I'm curious now ... anyone have a close-up photo of their installed Vortech they could post up .... w/ a clear view of where the bleed valve is.

I haven't looked yet myself, but I am sure Summit sells the bleed valve as well. It is just a small threaded screw that you can adjust in out to riase/lower fuel pressure dependent upon your need.

The bleed valve is to bleed off boost pressure and change the slope of the fuel curve.
