79158, Egt gauge problems, please help Posted by nosdeclipse, Nov-10-04 09:22 AM
Just lately my egt gauge has been acting weird. For like the first ten mintues of driving my car the needle will sit only at 600 and when I hit the gas it shoots right past 1600 instantly. After a little while it will finally start to act normal sometimes. Do you think this is a wiring problem or possibly a bad probe?

Check the wiring. Most of the time EGT gauge problems can be traced to a loose or inadequate grounding connection for the gauge.
The only problem I had with an EGT gauge was with my old Autometer Lunar gauge were the probe wires melted to the EGR tube. The gauge definately acted strange when that happened.
