For a couple of weeks I noticed my walbro in-tank taking longer to prime then what it used to, but I didn't think to much of it. Then Friday while cursing at about 80mph down a major highway in rush hour traffic when my car just quits. Once I get stopped I sit there for a couple of seconds and tried to restart, of course nothing...Just rolling over, no fire. Then I notice the fuel pump isn't running. So I get out, and since the car was displaying the same symptoms that is was when I had a short and fried the ECU, I decided to check the fusible link that supplies power to the ECU. Sure enough it was blown. So it put a new one in there just to see what would happen and turned the key...and the pumped primed...so I was like, rock on...maybe I got lucky. :shrug At least the ECU isn't fried...like the last time anyway. Turned the car over...no fire. Get out again and check the fuse...blown x( Ok time to call for a tow truck. After trying to explain to the stupid bitch on the phone for 20 minutes were I was at (about 2 miles from a major highway interchange and an international airport) they final get a truck out to me after about an hour. I have the car hauled 49 miles to my dads house (this is were I do all my wrenching and he has a car I can barrow if I need it) to the tune of $189. Lucky for me I guess I have road side service through a 3rd party plus limited coverage though my car insurance so total out of pocket shouldn't be to bad. By the time I got to my dads house it was pretty much dark so I decide to wait until Sat. to work on it. I tracked all the fuel pump re-wire...no shorts and all major bundles of wire I could find...no shorts. This whole time I have in the back of my head, "what if that pump went bad and is drawing to many amps....nah that's supposed to be a good pump and last more than a year". But after I got bored with checking wire I thought...well lets just unplug the pump for fun, and crank the car and see what happens. Well what to you know...no blown fuse. I also had a multi-meter plugged into the fuel pump plug and was reading anything crazy. So I yanked the pump and threw my stock one in there and the car fired right up. I also notice fresh metal shavings in that pre-filter thing. That kinda pisses me off. I thought I spent good money on a good product and it leaves me stranded and costs me a lot of money to get un-stranded. And now I have to run less boost until I can come up with a new pump. :thumbsdown And what’s worse is while I was working on the car my drivers side door handle broke. x( I babied that thing too...only using it to pop the door, then I would grab the edge of the door to open it fully.

Has anyone else had their walbro go out on them like that? I think I'm going to try an inline next. Most people use accel for an inline right?

LOL...sorry for the long story...I just thought it might help someone in the future if they have that problem.

Hrm, I have one too. It's been in for about 2 years and I haven't had an issue with it yet.

hmm, i have a 255 in tank and in-line, and so far so good...

ive had them fuel pump for going on 2 years now.

At least I can save you a few bucks on the door handle repair to help ease the cost of a new fuel pump.

maybe its not getting power... try replacing both of those relays on the firewall, i think i paid 40 for the pair
