78583, 8-injector set up... unique question Posted by jsupetran, Oct-25-04 07:04 AM
Ok I was wondering, if let's say, I buy an already tuned 8-injector setup from another 2gnter. I will be using the same injectors, on the primary and secondary rails...
Will I know be able to just drop in the the 8-injector setup with mine and not have to retune the program, with the only difference being that I will be running 7 psi versus, the 21 psi of the former user?

Same exact Turbo and system?
You would be close, but I would say you would still want to fine tune. A lot of things can affect the tunning , like location, System, piping, etc.
Might not be a big thing but still might want to do it. Heck, even with the HRC base maps you would have to tune a bit.

Why do you want that whole set up, and all that fuel for 7 psi? Rising rate set up should be just fine for 7 psi…. 8 injector for 7 psi? :wtf ---------------------------------------

8 inj for 7 psi is overkill. and tuning for 21psi is going to be way diiferent than for 7psi.

I'm trying to get my 8 inj. done (Thanx Tim) and I'm only at 5psi, cause my sfmu sucks balls and my boost controller spikes like hell. I'm not talking shit about the sfmu, but I can't do anything with it. I'm moving to 8, because I think it might be the only way now to save my engine. Anybody got parts?

The thing with the 8 injector setup is it allows you to adjust fuel differently at different boost points and RPM points. The tuning could be perfect at 21 psi, but that doesn't mean anything for the other boost points. They could be rich or lean depending on the person's tuning. If the system is tuned well for 21 psi, then you can bet that it will, at least, be ok at 7 psi. You have to cross 7 psi to get to 21 psi. However, it is likely that you will be rich running his settings. You'll probably want to do some fine tuning, but it will be a start. You'll also have to match his fuel pressure for everything to work right. If 7 psi was the max goal, then I'd say stick with a S-FMU. If you have plans for more boost, then 8 injectors is worth the effort.
