Hey I have some cash but I am trying to decide what to do to make the car run safely. Should I buy larger injectors (I am still on stock) and a manual boost controller, or a wideband display. Keep in mind that can only do one or the other... so which should I buy. I kinda want to recover the psi I lost switching to an fmic, so maybe run 6-7 psi, but should a wideband be helpful in may case. I do have a greddy boost, egt, fp gauge if that helps you. I don't plan to do a rebuild to 2-3 years btw.

and sell your egt gauge, fuel pressure gauge, and even the boost gauge if you want.

The zeitronix will allow you to monitor all those through it.

A-fucking-men. Throw a wideband in there, too. If you are a Megasquirtaphobe, get a DIY wideband kit and evaluate if you need larger injectors.

235cc on a boosted application? Yeah he needs larger injectors. Not a whole lot of evaluation needs to go on there. :+

Well, you got me. That's a good point. <insert HRC excuse> Lots of cars have used stock injectors with boost for many miles, though! </HRC Excuse>

I am just saying that getting away from fuel pressure tuning is a good first step. Personally, I would do so with a method that does not involve making a jig to drill holes in my manifold, but that's just my opinion, which is clearly stated all over 2GNT.

Thanks guys for the response. When I read magazines from SCC where they boost an NT, the usually go for low boost (7psi) with larger injectors, and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (usually a vortech fmu). Is a magasquirt advisable for low boost apps? Reason I asked is that I am soo intimidated by the diy aspect.

A Megasquirt would wake up an otherwise stock naturally aspirated engine, and it's for the reason that the AFX ECU will wake up an otherwise stock car. The megasquirt turns a car like ours that is not intended to see boost into a car that is meant to see boost. There is no hacking involved, no lying to a naturally aspirated ECU, nothing like that. The Megasquirt is worth it's weight and effort in platinum.

Anyone know if the MS will solve that delay when the computer puts more fuel in, and as the car transitions into boost?

pm mrslick with any questions you have regarding the megasquirt. he knows a lot about them and he sells them as well.

There will be no delay, because the car in vacuum/ambient is controlled by the same computer as while in boost. Temperature correction is another plus. You will, at the very least, find the car more consistant across seasons with the Megasquirt.

Do all those if you can afford it, and you will smoke the crap out of any rising rate/stock ECU 2GNT running the same boost as you.

Hmmm...I just got my SFMU/ 30lb setup a couple months ago and now this MS stuff just exploded on the scene. I wish I had the funds to but then I would wanna get the whole thing, on top of that a laptop to tune it with...over a grand - and I'm not rebuilt yet. Right now I'm just trying to increase power at the same boost level. I got a leaky headgasket so 6-7psi is tops.

I've always believed that whenever youe ever mess with the fuel system or the mixture, you should know the exact AFR. Otherwise, you're just kidding yourself with a narrowband or just watching EGT's and listening for knock. For example... All of you out there with the basic bolt-ons and an AFC should have a wideband. It's pretty cheap, and getting that AFR dead on really helps with fuel economy and power.
