Is anyone running an EMS on there 420A?? Just pondering the thought and wanting some input and maybe some maps if people are running them. Thanks

nope. people seem to want the ms now. even thought i bet the ems would work just as good on the 420a as the ms is.

The EMS would work just as well, with the added bonus of having to add a timing wheel and spend 5-10 times as much money. :shrug

Nevermind the support, or the feeling of safety in having a unit that is returnable, and not built in someone's garage.

Someone, can't remember who, is installing the AEM EMS on their 2gnt. Look around, or search, you may find their post referencing it.

If i had the money, I'd buy an AEM EMS, DFI Gen 7, ot a FAST system rather than run a MS. Just because its feature rich and cheap doesn't mean it infalable.

The only problem with the AEM EMs is that so far AEM doesn't have a 2gnt/420a basemap to work with.

From what I hear its a lot harder to tune it from scratch than other systems... so we just need someone to get one and make it work.

I do like the look of the EMS system, but of course it does cost more than other alternatives out there ... ;)

Yea, there is no doubt its a great system...But for 1400$, plus a wide band, and no base map...NOT worth it...IMO

I will have a dyno post by late this week..

Torquefreaks has already built a base map and they got it to idle!!
Now I'm just waiting to have it tuned. The wiring was a pain in the ass. I had to get a AEM EMS 1050 box and buy a Honda Accord engine, chassis harness. The box is behind the glovebox instead of under the hood like our stock PCM. I will try to get a wiring schematic together for our cars once I get it back into my garage. I have some pics that I took with my camera phone on my website. stay tuned!

I still say that the AEM sounds a like one of the hardest systems out there to tune if you don't have a good base map to work from... if you have a basemap then it's not to bad.

To put it into perspective, when I did my first MS install, the basemap was done upstairs in the house using "best guess" numbers... and the car started first time, and was driven round the block... now that's an easy basemap to setup. I dunno, maybe I'm just good ;)

There's a lot more to getting it actually started than just the 8x8 VE map...

The biggest thing you have to get right is the cranking PW, and the warmup enrichments... plus the Required Fuel. Which is basically the ammount of fuel your engine requires for one complete cycle, with the intake at 100% VE, with a 14.7:1 AFR ratio... ;) Cake work :)

I didn't even want to attempt the basemap... I'll let the certified AEM techs deal with it. They already blew up the first box building the base map, replaced it for free though...

Whoever said $1400 is underestimating by a lot.. I'm up to about 2500 on this project including dyno time/tuning/parts/drivability and relocating the whole damn wiring harness to the inside. :wallbash

The AEM guys blew up the first one? While trying to set the basemap? That's not cool...
