77614, What thickness head gasket should I get?
Posted by ctech9912, Oct-06-04 09:19 AM
So im going with a custom turbo kit, T-25, etc.. on my 97 GS eclipse

My timing belt went just before this so i got my head all redone, got ARP head studs, but im lookin at a cometic head gasket,

http://www.nipponpower.com/engine/gasket/cometic_hp.html

i got a few options..
Bore size, whats the stock bore size? 87.5mm id assume? as there other option is 88.5mm

And thickness, the options are:

.030inch
.040inch
.054inch

so any reccomendations on what i should get? anyone know what the stock thickness is?
thanks

just get the factory MLS one. Its most likely the best you can get. If TTI was in business I would say go with his, but he is long gone now :(.

If you're looking to lower the compression, get the .054" gasket. .030" is thinner than stock. Stock is .040".

So with a stock bottom end, running a T25, going together with ARP head studs, should I be worried about lowering compression? Or is .040 ok? I'd rather get the cometic gasket, just wether to get the stock .040 or go .054.

thanks...
