alright,so it's been awhile since i posted on here but maby you can help me...i installed my star perfomance/custom turbo kit and i'm having problems with it runnung rich, real rich! so rich that when i push the gas it slows down! but only in low rpms above 3000rpm you couldn't ask for it to run any better! i'm using vortech fmu, missing link, and msd high pressure inline pump. i think i may have damaged my oxygen sensor on my downpipe. that may be the problem..when i say i damaged it i bent it and something popped inside of it?! well my idle is real rough too! i checked my vac lines and there all ok.also i got a cel but it goes off after it's warmed up...wierd! i can;t do the key dance cuz i have a 98 so any input would be great,oh! yes i searched but wasn't satisfied so get over it!!!

when it slows down its probly not because its rich. its probably because its LEAN. whats your fuel pressure?

I'd check into that CEL. If you heard something pop in the o2 sensor then that is very likely your problem. What size injectors are you running by the way?

i think i just figured out my problem...if i'm currect my o2 sensor is used in closed loop in low rpm's and not used in reading wot. that's why i run well in upper rpm's and run like crap barely stay started in lower rpm's...

I believe the system goes to closed loop based on throttle position not necessarily RPMs. I believe it goes to an open circuit when it senses a large throttle increase and returns to closed when the throttle position stays constant.

It could still be the O2 sensor though.

edit: If you bent it I would definately bet it isn't working, they are a pretty sensitive device.

You definitly need to know your fuel pressures...

where can i purchase a device to measure fuel pressure...guages/acc. ect. thanks for all your help...and apoligees for my newbness!

I have never heard of someone going going turbo and not knowing there Fuel pressure. How did you even set up you FMU?

Inside the o2 sensor is a ceramic lining much like a spark plug.....that is the insulation in the long end of the sensor. It you heard a pop you broke it and the sensor is shot. With a stock Star stage 2 6psi you should be around 100 psi dependign on when the msd pump maxes its capabilities. The walbro that comes with the kit wont max out past 110psi (i pretty sure) some people have reported seeing 118psi but thats the highest i have heard.

the msd pump i have is plenty big enough...225lph i think, over 200 never the less high pressure...and i didn't "tune" my fmu it's autamatic i guess there are no adjustments on it! well maby i f'd this up i don't know i think i did good, considering not realy having any mechanic experience other basic things rotors,oil,filters,body repair,ect. but i'm almost convinced my problem is in my o2 sensor cuz the ceramic part that star turbo talon explained is the sound that i heard break so i'm gonna fix that..oh and has any body else had a problem with the star downpipe o2 seneor location causeing the sensor to hit the oil pan that's why i had to bend it a little..so i guess i'll take it to the muffler shop and have it moved a little

Man I wouldnt even be running that thing without a Fuel Pressure Gauge. That shits dangerous. As far as your 02 goes I didnt even have mine hooked up on the way to the exhuast shop and it ran fine.

Yes the Star DP is a problem....have it moved.

As far as the MSD why are you using that.....why didnt you use the Walbro 255 the kit came with. 255 is liters per hour.....has nothing to do with the max pressure the pump will run. A fuel gauge is nice to have but many people run the kits out of box and dont have a problem. Hahn doesnt preach to run a gauge with his stage 2 kit and everybody knows Hahn word is GOD........

Anyways you should be fine after replacing the O2 and moving the bung.

well i didn't get my pump when my kit came in aparentley it was on back order from overboost.com i waited 2 months and got tired of stairing at the turbo on my shelf in my room so,,i got up an ordered a different one but now that it's on and i got my o2 sensor fixed (that was all my problems by the way!)there sending the walboro it'll be here next week. i'll switch out for the walboro cuz the inline is freaking noisy!!! but it does tell me it's working so that's good! neway thanks for all your help i'll be back oh any recommendations on blow off valves and inetcoolers for starters..
