7712, Question about the EGT and Fuel pressure gauge?
Posted by bonecupidboze, Jul-22-01 06:41 AM
I have some questions that I would like to get some answers from.
First of all, Both my gauges are Autometer gauges so those of you who have these gauges or any thing similar can help me. Now for my EGT gauge. I have it all hooked up including the probe but don't understand why it reads at 1,200*F even when the engine is on or off idling or not. It's like the needle just frozed there and doesn't even move at all period. Is there a way to set this thing up or is my little black box that came with the gauge where you stick all of those colorful wires in, fried. I remember one of the wires from the black box that came with the EGT melted because I had it close to metal when installed but, I repaced it and nothing happened the needle is still at 1,200*f. Can anyone help me on this one?

Second, now about the fuel gauge, can anyone give me step by step instructions on how they hooked up (Tap) the braided fuel line into the fuel rail? Thanks DSMer's

Hey i'll give you some tips.

You may have fried the black box/egt gauge when you shorted the wire out. No way to find out unless you replace the box =/ sorry.

Double check your wires on that box and to your gauge, etc.

To tap on the return line schradder valve so that you can run a return line, go to k-mart and get a tire valve service tool, also known as a schradder valve removal tool. You can also find this in autozone. Its a small package that has a monkey on it. hehe sorry its how i remember it. Took a while for me to find it. Pep Boys should have it too. Less than $2 bucks.

Use that tool to "unscrew" the valve inside the schradder return line valve on the fuel rail. Make sure your fuel system is not pressurized first. The little valve will unscrew out of the fitting. Then you can screw the stainless/steel line onto that return line fitting. Sorry dont remember what size fitting it needs to be.

Hope this helps...
