7663, need HELP on MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER Posted by bonecupidboze, Jul-20-01 01:14 PM
Just got done installing the manual boost controller, but either way I turn it, it's boosting way beyond my limits. I want to boost 6 psi, but if I turn it to the right or the left it seems like it doesn't make a difference because on my second gear pulls between 4,000-5,000 rpm, boost reads over 6 psi already. How do you actually control the boost? Do I have to turn the screw all the way in first in order to adjust it correctly, or is there a way to do it? Please help!

What kind of boost controller do you have? Bleed or ball and spring type?
Is it a Joe P. MBC (ball and spring type)? If it is, turn it all the way out, practically until you feel it totally loose. You then should be back to "stock." Then turn it in, turn by turn, until you get to your desired boost level.
BE CAREFUL!

what is the rating of your waste-gate spring? if you have a 7lb spring, you can't boost any lower than that. a boost controller will only let you boost higher than your waste-gate would allow.
