Progress! Finally! I've waited way too long to have a properly tuned car.



Tested up to 7000 RPM's, at 1.0-0.9 BAR of boost. The outside air tempature was about 60 degrees, low humidity. This map yeilds 12.5:1 up to around 3500 RPM's, then about 12.0 up until around 5500 RPM's, then 11.7:1 up to 7000. It is running a little rich, I'd like to see 12:1 from 4000+, so it needs a little tuning. Relevant mods:
HRC S16G
Stock primaries
Accel 415 cc/min secondaries
Aeromotive 1:1, static pressure set to 42 PSI
8.8:1 pistons
Crower stage 3 cams
1mm oversized valves
AEM gears, intake retarded -8 at the crank (takes out 8 out of the 16 degrees of overlap, no idea if this is a good setting, will dyno this upcoming saturday)

Some of you may notice that the MAP rate count is a bit high. I spent some time with this value - started at 20, worked my way up by steps of 10 until I didn't have hickups anymore.

If anyone here is doing the 8 injector setup and will be using the same injectors and fuel pressure as I am, this would be a good map to start with, but I'd bump the injector scalar up to around 4 and the MAP rate count back down to 20 until the optimal values are entered.

i'm going to give this a try see what i get. you have similar mods except the turbo and cams. since you say it's rich at top end, it might be good for me. i'll let you know how it turns out.

question: why is your RPM range so high when limiter is 7200ish?

I'm gonna guess cause it makes for a nice 1000, 2000, 3000, etc on the matrix.

Good job Nate..If it were me though, I would start off your A/F a bit richer, up to peak torque to 5000 rpm. Then maybe lean it out a little bit. When running full bar or 15 psi, keep it a bit richer during peak torque 3800-4500(to help subside any detonation), then lean it out just a little as rpm goes up..detonation has less physical time to occur in higher rpm. Your EGT should be ok with a 12:1 or slightly richer A/F at 15 psi above peak torque. This should help your top end power a little bit. I like how you set your rpm grid too..gonna have to do that :thumbsup

Hey Xtreem can we get you to post a map for refrence....lol Your turbo is closer to what I am using. I going to post my map although my car is horrible out of tune right now, so any advice I would welcome. Now mind you I am running a 2.2L stroker with completly stock head (except for a minimal shave for flatness) stock gears. My comp is 8.8:1 and I run stock primaries and 44lb secondarys...
BTW no laughing either, I have noticed my clouds of richness have returned...

hey kirby, why do you have yours set to 3 bar?

Because I have a 3 bar sensor in there. Remember the threads you were posting about you adding in a 3 bar. Well the motorola sensors are greek to me but as long as they read 0-5v then you can use any GM style sensor and just wire it up.
EDIT: I know nobody has my setup, but does anyone have any advice or see any glaring issues with my map. I need to do some tuning, but I acctually think I posted the wrong map... I don't believe my scaler is that high any longer... I'll check and then re post if need be...

hey man!! i tested this setup today. it's real good! i tested at 20psi, and looking at my EGT's thoughout. i was worried on 1st gear 'cause it quickly got to 1550F around 4000RPM then it backed off at 5000RPM. then 2nd gear, it was much better, 20psi steady and all the way to 7200RPM, nice, 1450F, then 3rd and 4th, was good as well, 1400F @ 7000RPM. not bad. i also looked at my A/F as best as i can, and it was at 1.00~1.02 so a tad rich at top end, but good for higher boost. i also pulled my plugs and noticed they were slight brown/whitish. i think that's pretty good, not the much black deposits.i guess also since 1st gear was after a launch, and not that much air was drawing to the IC was the reason of the high climb in the beginning. good tunning. atleast it's good for me to work with. remember i have a SC31 turbo and pretty big IC, and a scream'n demon coil which helps me. tommorow if i have time i'll try 22psi and see what i get. thanks man!

1400* is very rich, your robbing yourself of some power. Your forged internals can take 1600* if you want but I'd watch boosting past 20 on pump. What are you using for timing advance/retard?

Yeah, I would defiantely change the map completely if you are going to be using different cams... My peak torque doesn't happen anywhere near 3500-4000 RPM's anymore, that's probably why it's really rich on the top end for you.
