76505, Hahn Portfueler ordering system now in place
Posted by hawaiidiverx, Sep-18-04 01:07 PM
For us guys who were having troubles with non-returned phone calls..etc...that shouldn't be an issue anymore...i got a call from Melissa this moring (530am...i'm in Hawaii)...Bill was just writing names and numbers down until the system was online...you can call and talk to Kris, and she can set you up with what you need...components are sold separatly, and i think my total was about 1K...this included everything i needed, with tuning fee....Sorry to a non-believer Bill...you guys didn't forget us little guys after all...THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill rules. I met him and thought to myself, "Why am I going all motor again?" :P Then he almost ran me over with that quad and I remembered it's all about the respect. "To some people that's more important." :)

I'll be looking into port fueler sometime before too long imo...

You are going to use 8 injector on an all motor 420a???

Forgive me if Im slow, just trying to compare to the 034 setup.

What is the difference between the EIC and the AIC? Is one better than the other?

Also, the Pre-loaded map, whats the story with that?

I got a fuel rail, all my 8 injectors and injector harness....now I need the adapter plate and software.....

No, one calls it a additional injector controller, other calls it a extra injector controller. Neither have air temp correction, which Bill said will be his next upgrade when he finds one at a resonable price to play with probably(some say he may have not realized how big a difference this can actually make). I contacted Split Secound and they are going to make no attempt to upgrade, or create another unit that will factor this in...

I doubt it would work for anything but that specific Split Second AIC1 brain box Bill has configured it for. Probably pig rich like he did with the DFI boxes. ;-)

Just order what I listed as hardware, it's 299, mine should be in the mail today if they got the order right... So I will post some pics if you need, cause I am not sure what all is included, mainly, the spacer, fuel rail, maby a fuel line, fittings, longer bolts for manifold, etc..

EIC = extra injector controller
AIC = additional injector controller
SIC = supplementary injector controller

That part is just terminology. However, both the current 034 and "Hahn" units take in a tach and boost signal to determine fuel flow to 4 supplementary injectors based on a programmed fuel map. They can use the same injectors and fuel pressure regulator. They both require a laptop to reprogram. The Hahn unit is preprogrammed to work with their turbo kit. The 034 is universal. You have to program it. Neither unit reads intake air temp. Its not critical, but it would improve year round accuracy. Personally, I don't like that Hahn placed the injectors 90 degrees from air flow. It shoots straight down to the other side of the runner. I'd prefer if they were angled to more closely match air flow (like the stockers). Most people mount their extra injectors 20 degrees from air flow. Since Hahn puts the injectors so close to the intake port, it probably isn't important. I think either system makes a good mid-level fuel system. Either will be better than a S-FMU and big injectors. Neither will be as good as a stand-alone.

And for Lee's sake:
The Megasquirt is way better. It can do a million things and its pretty cheap. Its capabilities approach (soon may match) that of a proper stand-alone. Everyone should at least consider this option.

And for the sake of the Pits:

Actually Corbin, the injectors are 18* from 90* relative to the air flow. They had to do that to miss the valve cover. So they are angled slightly. I talked to both Bill and Adam about that briefly at the shootout. On Bill's RS the prototype they are running was less of an angle...16* if I remember right...and they had to trim their valve cover to get everthing to fit.

So, instead of ordering an 034 EIC, I could go with Hahns AIC and they will preprogram it for my setup for me if I pay the additional 50 dollars?

This is the way to go then isn't it? Instead of starting from scratch tuning with the 034.

What is your time worth? :shrug

If you have one of Hahn's turbo kits, and get Hahn’s setup... Then I’d say you'd be a little better off than if you wanted to tuned the EIC you have already, or at least that is how it SHOULD be theoretically, ha-ha...

Edit: although I am sure you could get maps for your EIC very easily from other 2GNT'ers running the same setup?

You'd think that wouldn't you? :twitch

For some reason the DSM community is annoyingly tightfisted about any sort of fuel maps or settings.

(Yes I understand this is so ricers don't copy the settings and blow their shit up. Use a disclaimer instead so the rest of us can compare settings.)

I've NEVER seen a complete 034eic, eManage, or SAFC setup posted on this board, or any others that I can remember.

We very openly traded DFI global's to help everyone out that needed them to get the cars started and tune on from there... I have no problems sharing information to help further our progress, at all... If others do, eh... so be it... karma will knock on their doors some day.

I would agree that I have not seen an actual map posted to the board, but I have seen many detailed discussions around the 8 inj set-up that have included numbers from the matrix. No one on this board is really racing each other anyway except for in their local community maybe and I know there is sharing going on there. If anyone who had a set-up simmilar to me was asking about the 8-inj I would gladly provide them. The other thing is that you rarely see two people on the 8-inj setup who are close enough to acctually copy maps. There are so many varibles to look at, elivation, primary and secondary injector sizes, turbo trims, head mods...etc...etc. It almost makes it impossible to say here try this map and go from there you know. Were you looking for any detail on the 8-inj setup?

Eh, That's not true at all. I remember Matt95tgs posting his entire 034EIC fuel map for me last year. You just gotta ask nicely. ;) I've sent my .SET from my 034 out to two people who asked, I just made it very clear the safety precautions they need to follow when using it.

Thanks for clarifying. I have yet to see it in person, so I don't know how tight it is. Hopefully, I'll get to see it first hand one day.

i had to give Kris my setup information cause i'm not runnin a Hahn turbo kit...she asked trim size, and ingnition setup as well...that is for the tach adapter...comes with 40# injectors, 49 dollar tuning fee (setup for you system)...i'll take pics of mine when it's installed you get to see it outside of the engine bay too (installing it on a freshly built engine)...Michelle said she wants to have them shipped in a week or so...she said they've had setbacks but are hoping all is well now...until then i'm just like all the rest sitting back and waiting patiently

I don-t think anyone should over estimate the importance of HRC pre-tuning their AIC. It takes a whole 5 minutes to tune the 034 where it's rich enough for 90% of your needs through a quick adjustment to the scaler. Besides that, it's somewhat pre-tuned with a map. It's hardly a situation where you have to start from scratch.

As Super20g has alluded to, I'm not sure what state of tune HRC's AIC will come in given other people's past experiences with a "tuned" Haltech. On top of that, we've all stated one time or another, every car is different, with it's own fuel setups, engine performance, boost levels, turbo sizes, exhaust...etc. and etc.

The portfueling plate though would make the physical installation of the extra injectors much more appealing to the guy who doesn't want to go to the trouble of manifold fabrication. Although, you're still going to need to get the fuel lines, fuel rail, and 1:1 FPR worked out.

That's part of the "package".

Right, if you choose to buy the package.

However, if I were doing it all over again, I would consider buying the 034, my own fuel lines and FPR, and then incorporating the HRC plate. At $250, and still having the ability to self-tune the 034, things become a lot more cost effective and interesting.

Hey folks. No kits will be shipped out till the end of September at the earliest from what I was told. Who knows whats up with them not sending the kits. It took me over a month to get mine from them.

My complete kit is here and I will be installing it in the next day or two. Ill post a write up and screen shots of the software.
