What's up guys. I just got my build block and I want to paint it to make it look cleaner. The black ain't working for me. What kind of paint could I use to paint it? Thanks

Thats what I used.

Polish it and then hit it with clearcoat engine enamel. That would be badass.

simply go to autozone and get high temp paint. works just fine. just make sure you get the 1200 degree shit.

Powdercoat it.

I would have used the 1600* paint, but it had a really dull finish and required baking in an oven.

You MUST completely degrease the engine before painting it, otherwise it will just flake off. Even if youve only touched it with your clean hands, your skin oil will fuck up the paint when it gets hot.

It's somewhat resistant to oil and solvents once dry. You can brush it gently with a damp cloth, but if you scrub it hard or leave oil leaks all over it, the paint will come off.

The only way to do it right is to powdercoat it.

Yeah the 1600* is not glossy and some of the 1200* stuff isn't either.

Never powdercoat an iron engine component, especially a block or head (if they're iron) the metals need to "breathe" it is essential for long term operation. Powdercoating will only cause undue stress on the block and increase it's chances of cracking (holds in too much heat). I wouldn't powdercoat the head either, I'm not to sure about exact effects on aluminum but it must be similiar. Now an intake mani. or something of that nature, I'd say go for it, in a heartbeat.
