75786, t3 on gst manifold? Posted by TKI, Sep-01-04 06:33 AM
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ will it work?

they do make t3 for the GST manifold...but i'm assuming your planning on putting it on your GS....forget it...GST mani doesn't fit our car.

No, a Garrett flange and Mitsu flange are different. It will not work. For a Garrett style turbo that bolts up to a Mitsu flange, look at PTE or AGP. They use custom turbine housings.

hence that would be a "t3" that bolts to a mitsu mani...like i said.

It's not really a T3, though. That statement needs to be qualified to explain that it is possible to get T3 wheels and a T3 compressor housing to bolt to a 4G63 turbo mani. To call it a T3, however, is an incomplete explaination.

I know that a GST manifold wont bolt up stock, but I was going to cut the flange off the GST manifold and weld it to the 420a manifold.
I can get the turbo for free is why I was asking.

Well, it still isn't an easy material to weld. Also, check into the bore spacing of the two engines. I think it's a stupid idea, and you will spend more to make the manifold work then you would if you just got an aftermarket manifold. Also consider the location of the thermostat housing.

how the fuck do you expect to cut this? Its all casted as a single molded piece. Do your research before you decide to cut and weld cast iron.
make a manifold out of dryer ducting and epoxy, itd last longer than your GST/RS "turbo manifold"

sounds like this guy has never welded cast steel/iron "properly". I have welded a t3 flange to a gst manifold before but liek i said it is a long process...those of you who know welding know what i mean...looking back...its just to much work for the worth.

I have seen it done before. The reason that I was going to do it was b/c I dont have $350 bucks for a manifold. I can get an extra manifold gst and gs for free.
I wasnt going to do the welding. One of my friends who is a very exprienced welder was going to do it.
BTW, I wasn't going to put the flange where the turbo bolts to on, but the main flange that connects to the engine. Like I said, i've seen it! I'm not saying that it would be the most efficient or it might not even work, but what is wrong with trying when you dont have the money.

Yea I have had the same idea with the welding the 420 flange onto the 4g63 manifold...i might just go ahead and do that today... :)

Let me know how it turns out if you do it.

well if your going to do it you will need to use nickle rod and the manifold will need to be heated.
