Ok, so you all say Bill is using this AIC in his new fuel systems.

I figure we could get some chats going for people intrested in starting the project on their own since no telling when Bill will release his 'kit'.

I will give some general info from a few minutes of research.

Website: http://www.splitsec.com/products/aic1/aic1ds.htm
Brochure: http://www.splitsec.com/Brochure/Brochure.pdf
Install Instructions: http://www.splitsec.com/products/instpdfs/aic1inst.pdf
Price: Retail is $310

- Control two low impedance or four high impedance injectors
- Very simple install
- Uses a plain jane male/female serial cable to interface w/ a PC
- Programming is done with the Split Second R4 engine calibration software.
- The 'R4' software will work on any Windows based OS's
- Based on the website, it seems pretty easy to tune the unit
- We need part number: AIC1-G4H I think, which is for 4 high impedance injectors, map sensor uses a gauge pressure unit (cause we are boosting more than 16psi), and because we need to use both MAP A for 2 injectors and MAP B for 2 injectors

Very easy installation, recommended behind the firewall to protect unit from enviornmental conditions

Come on Brad... give it up and use a Megasquirt... Do I have to start listing reasons why it's better?

And if you only want extra injectors, the MS can do that too... ;)

Well, I chucked the Gen 6 DFI the other day because it was way too hard to tune correctly for year round conditions... Maby not for an expert or something, but it just wasn't for me. Not like I care if my car is manorly or not, but it's gotta be able to drive decently year round, I am a college student, and when I do decide to drive the 420A to school a few days out of the month, I'd like it to drive decently.

If I can use the stock ECU for year round drivibility, and extra injectors with a decent map to satisfy 25psi or so whenever I get a lead foot, that's really about all I care about...

The motor is back in minus the intake manifold, and this time I am going for the fix it and forget it approach, and redoing every little quirk, new wires, soldering every connection, new gaskets, hoses, studs, blah, blah.. Not like a 420A will ever not break, but atleast lessen the frequency hopefully, lol.

Seriously, do these 8 injector setups sound like the ticket for what I am proposing?

Yes, it sounds like the PortFueler setup is definetely for you!

It's for most guys that can't, for whatever reason, become a master tuner of stand-alone fully-programmable fuel injection. This shit is hard you have to be very knowledgable about the systems involve and you must be very dedicated.

Mr. Slick - you have to realized that fuel systems like the MegaSquirt, DFI, etc. are not for the average tuner. I kinda hate that you push everyone to use the MegaSquirt. It's absolutely great, I'm using one on another project, but it's not "easy".

The Megasquirt really isnt all that hard to tune... especially if you have a wideband...
Once you get all the constants set right you just concentrate on your VE table... no big deal.

And with some special code like target AFR coming soon it's even easier...

You know what I would like!? A system that you could tune by just plugging in the desired AF ratios. Like instead of putting -25% and such values across the chart, just putting 11.7:1 at determined RPM's or boost preasures. Man, I would love and buy such a system. Two blocks gone now from bad tunning. :(

Like MrSlick said in the post above yours, the MegaSquirt is capable of that. HOWEVER, target AFR is not the only table to calibrate.

I love my DFI. It was a pain in the beginning but once you learn what works and what doesnt it's a great tool.

One thing that I learned is that a wideban makes the dfi a lot easier.

But good luck to you Brad.

Well, I completely removed and sold my DFI, so it's not coming back, hehe. For a grand w/ a cheap laptop might I add ;-)

So I figure if Bill has scrapped his DFI and is now playing around w/ additional injector controllers, then that might be something to look into.

He assured me that he was generating better numbers with the port fueler 'system' than he could w/ the DFI, so that's just added bonus, cause all I am concerned about right now is driveability.

i agree with you Brad. if you're only concerned is with everyday driveability, the 8-injectors is the thing for you, it's more reliable and not have to worry too much with setting a fuel curve and ignition like you did with standalone. that's why i chose this path myself. i would care about standalone if you want an all out drag car. go for it! everyone is saying Megasquirt...but the one i have is just fine.
