Hey everyone. I have a 1997 Eclipse GS with a custom turbo setup using the Hahn Super16G. Im running 9psi, intercooled. Anyways, Ive been running the Screamin Demon coil pack (plugs are NGKs gapped at .065 as recommended by Howell) along with MSD 8.5mm wires. I havent had any problems with the coil pack, the car runs pretty good with the current setup. I recently installed the Greddy E-Manage (for injector and fuel management) and am now in the process of installing a MSD DIS-2. Ive wanted to upgrade my ignition system to CD anyways, but I also want to use the E-Manage to adjust timing. Would I have any problems with the Screamin Demon coil pack and the DIS? I know the DIS puts out a LOT of voltage and I dont know if the aftermarket coil pack can take it or not. I dont know much about the Screamin Demon and how reliable it is. I still have my stock coil, so I can always swap it out. What about the spark plug gap? Should I leave it at .065?

Also, what other ignition mods do you guys suggest I do? Im trying to get the car totally set with all the supporting mods before I get the 2.2 forged motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thats the gap Howell suggests. I had the plugs gapped slighly smaller (probably around .060 or .055) for a little bit and the car ran really rough. Once I set it to .065 the car ran perfect.

Im not even sure if that coil pack is designed for NA or Turbo applications or both. Anyone have any clue?

With turbo, regardless of the DIS or the Screamin Demon, keep that gap low! It's tough enough to get a turbo car tuned right to avoid detonation with a small gap, much less a large one.

Keep it lower than .035 when boosted.

I agree with Jason, .028-.035 is what I have been told to run.

i don't know fellas, but if you're gonna get a high output coil, and it's greater than stock, i would have to say it should be in between .035~.045 for turbo. i mean the true way to really know if your gap is where it needs to be is by putting it on a waveform pattern test on a special machine and read the waves at curb idle. you just have to play with the gaps till you get normal idle.
