There is something that I have been wondering, and someone asked me the other day is what is the difference in venting into the atmosphere or into the intake tube?

I mean, does it act different? What is the purpose of venting back into the intake. I know venting into the atmosphere is just kinda something to show-off, but I didn't know what to tell them.

you only need to recirculate into the intake tube if you have a 4g63 engine becuase the MAF reading is before the CBV or BOV, so if you take away the air that is supposed to be recirculated from the BOV to intake the engine would stumble because it's supplying the amount of fuel needed for all of the air that is supposed to be recirculated.

in short too much fuel for the amount of air supplied

venting to the atmoshpere is perfectly normal for cars that read air after the BOV or cars with ecu's that normally don't read boost at all(420a) it's not to show off in a 420a it's just you simply don't need it recirculated.

on our cars since the air is meter'd inside the intake manifold and not at the intake it dosent matter.

Interestingly though, there a few guys on this board that swear up and down our car runs better if you recirculate. I vent to the atmos.
