My buddy who i got my seats from and soon my spec clutch just sent me this link. I'll get more details for ya. http://estore.websitepros.com/768900/Detail.bok?no=140

whats the tubing gage(thinkness)?
also with the way that the WG flange located the turbo would have to be mounted in the opposite direction of what most of us have.
is any turbo flange availible?
looks cool...but for only 325 I have my doubts about quality.
*edit* took pic off...thought I was only gonna get the 420A pic but got all. x(

I will get more info on it when he gets back online. He also told me he could get me my spec stg 3 clutch for 350 which is cheapest ive seen around. Flywheel for the same 350. Hes a good guy and got me my DAD racing seats for 400 shipped which wast too shabby.

looks liks ssautochrome. that mani will do :thumbsup. the wastegate is out the other side yes, but who cares? gotta make it work. a big ass gt series hanging under that mani would look cozy

Looks like a shiney pacesetter header, that has a turbo flange welded on it. I should have thought of that!
|
74794, RE: Tubular equal length runner stainless mainifold Posted by Geelo, Aug-04-04 05:12 PM
They have them on Ebay everyonce in awhile. SS does sell them, well did once and they cancled the bid earlier on them cuz they suck hairy balls, but thats another story. I've been looking for them for awhile now, thanks for the link.
The pacesetter header you're talking about is for a 4g63. No one would make a header that looks like that unless it had a turbo flange on it.

someone should buy one.

I havent seen him online yet today. He gets on here periodically so When I do see him. I'll ask him a bunch of questions about it. Fitment, that wastegate thing, thickness, etc...
Edit: I know this is the turbo section but he also sells genuine buddy club 2 kits. Here is the link to them: http://estore.websitepros.com/768900/Detail.bok?no=89 $699 for it but I can get him down cheaper I know and he will do groupbuys for us as well he has said before. He told me to check with him on anything because he'll get if for me cheaper.

I did not know pacesetter made header for the 4g63. I was refering to the one that they make for our cars, but sure enough http://www.pacesetterexhaust.com/headers_detail.htm#notes
Anyway does he have any on a car to date? I would be interested in seeing how the starter likes being that close to the turbo, as well as where the DP will go? Does it have enough clearance to allow for the turbo by that support brace?
Post some pics of this installed please, it may be a good seller.

Looks identical to the SSAutochrome manifold....
Just so you know, SSAutochrome is now selling shit under a different name as well... www.xs-power.com They're also selling on ebay under that same name...
Same company, same address, same fax number... ;)

74815, RE: Tubular equal length runner stainless mainifold Posted by Geelo, Aug-05-04 10:16 AM
It looks like an SS mani because SS sells Stone Mountain. They don't make their own, they just sell the Stone mani's.

Is there a picture of the actual one that will be for the 420a. The one on the site doesn't have the right flange, but either way if it looks like that, than 325 is a good price. The fast fabrications one sells for 400 I think. Good alternative, I might have to try it.

74839, RE: Tubular equal length runner stainless mainifold Posted by Geelo, Aug-05-04 03:29 PM
even with the flange in the wrong spot, it can be used.
Cut the flange off and reweld it to the downpipe where there is more room, then run a pipe off the stub to the new wastegate. Instead of the wastegate being on the mani, it's at the other end of the wastegate tube. It will work the same, maybe not to great idea for real high boost, but should work fine for 12-15. And it will allow for you to use that mani.

I'm not sure if I speak your language, but it sounds like you're saying to put the wastegate on the downpipe. That won't work..at all. You have to bypass exhaust gas around the turbo. The only way you can have an external gate mounted after the turbo is if you use an internal gate port and put it there.
|
74869, RE: Tubular equal length runner stainless mainifold Posted by Geelo, Aug-06-04 02:22 PM
It would work, when the wastegate opens, the gases will bypass the turbo through the pipe as if it where located on the mani. It wont work as well, thats why I say not for high boost. If you want that mani to work, you might need to do it that way.
When the wastegate is closed, the gases will become somewhat turbulent from flowing down the wastegate pipe, and then being stoped, but for 12-15 psi it would be fine.

sorry man but you dont know WTF you're talking about. boost creep would be a mother fucker with the wastegate on the downpipe :nono
you could get a fat tial external gate, mount it to the location on this manifold, and then get crafty with the external pipe by either routing it back into the downpipe somewhere near the oil pan or just having it dump. if you used a turbo setup with the exhaust side on the driver side then this would be a lot easier but it can certainly be done either way.
sounds to me like you need to read up a little on wastegate locations, after the turbo is just funny...

Dude, you jsut told some dude not to worry about torquing head studs, why do you think you know wastegates, when you don't even know about torqe?

I have a fast fabrications tubular manifold flanged for a tial wg. I would prefer ceramic coating over stainless steel; looks more durable and less prone to cracking from heat and stress.

ceramic coating is less prone to cracking from heat and stress? ceramic coated WHAT? :shrug...iron? lol
what grade stainless is your manifold? you can get ceramic coated stainless you know :P :thumbsup

Anthony, email me sometime or somethin....AcidBurnsSoDoI@aol.com...i know you know i have been in the honda scene for a while...and all they do is turbo...I am about to purchase a nice TIG machine and could posibly pop out a few equal length turbo manifolds...let me know if you know some people who would be interested or if you would be interested in letting me get some measurements off your car ;) PS those manifolds look like SS autochrome...I know a few people who had them and they cracked within a month...

When I was looking for a manifold I contacted Fast Fabrications and they said they dont make them anymore, what the?? Also I seen the same manifold at Turbocalculator. com, but they dont make them anymore either. Huh, ohwell

Well... DUH! Any tubular style mani that is not braced will crack. Badly. Quickly. Do you really think that a brittle thin walled tube is going to support the weight of a turbo, a wastegate, and a downpipe? No. It's going to crack. It would probably eventually fucking crack without starting the car if it is not braced. Throw in some heat cycles, and your friends will think that you got the new Glade plug-in scent for your car called "hot exhaust."

78162, RE: Tubular equal length runner stainless mainifold Posted by BumpinTalon, Oct-14-04 09:44 AM
so let's bump this since this is the best discussion about these manifolds ... so what Ducking Fumbass is saying is that as long as you brace your turbo on something well enough, this manifold would be fine? Shit, for $325, I would be all over this thing. Equal length + nifty looks - $325 = good deal
|
78163, RE: Tubular equal length runner stainless mainifold Posted by turbo8u, Oct-14-04 09:53 AM
bracing has a lot to do with it, because it compromises the integrity and strength of the welds overtime, this isnt the only determining factor of the quality of a manifold by any means though.
when welding steel, stainless for example, it should be heated first...a lot of manifold builders do not cycle the metal through a good heat range before its finally done. this is VERY important to the longevity of the manifold. proper welding is a longer process than just keeping the arc at the front of the weld pool.
another huge factor is the grade of steel the manifold is made out of. 316 stainless when tig welded is VERY strong, and can withstand insane heat without corroding from the inside out like a lot of mild steel's and other lower grades
titanium equal length anyone? oh yea baby :P

Then again i dont own a ferrari do i??

Nice but not equal length
right now im working on a design. in it cylinders 3-4 go in front over the connection for 1-2...designed for a divided flange....trying to get a cad design up

Oh man...
Inconel is definately pretty awesome. I'd never pay that much money for a manifold though. That material is EXPENSIVE.
