7441, need opinion Posted by aj, Jul-14-01 02:46 AM
I was finishing up my stage II (star)install when i found out that my piping was a little off.The pipe that runs from the throttle body came a bit short.I managed to put it on there but it's all cockeyed. The hose is a little bit angled but it's holding it there, for now.Think it's fine or it would probably slip off the minute I boost? It's about 3/4 of an inch from the t/b and the ic pipe.

You will find out soon enough. When I got some intercooler piping from someone (different turbo kit and all) I first thought no way this is gonna happen when I began to install it. By the time I finished twisting, turning and forcing sh*t together it all came together and they have stayed on so far (and thats with no beading).

It'll hold, as long as you tighten down the clamps enough. Mine's the same way, as i had to remove and reinstall it with the front facia on and couldn't get it quite right..

Well,it's holding for now.The metals aren't touching at all.I'm afraid I might be loosing some boost.Think it's possible?BTW,where's the best spot to tap in the boost guage for the most accurate reading?

It should fit. I would keep working at it. When I installed mine, I didn't think it would fit either, but I kept working at it, and then I finally got it perfect. GOOD LUCK.

my piping didn't line up with my throttle body either. i have the star stage II as well. however, after i stopped dicking around and started giving it a few choice words, some twists, grunts, and muscle it fit like a glove. just wrench at it, it fits. good luck.

Well, theyv'e been holding on so far.Thing is I notice I don't feel full boost till' around 4000-4500 RPM's.Sometimes when I'm lucky 3800.Any sugestions?Leak?Would raising boost help? Can't tell how much boost I'm getting till I get the boost guage on though,I'm really clueless on where to hook up the hose to.HELP.

As long as your not using an aftermarket boost controller you should be fine. Just let the wastegate manage the boost till you get that boost gauge in. Then get a boost contoller and you can turn up the boost. My ic install was tuff too. At first I though WTF how the hell is this going to fit. But it dose, just by a hair.
