i think clutches are a sore topic for us... no one has a cleary defined answer just like which turbo kit is better... i'd say get a CM stage 3 or 4 clutch... but some swears by the C DF too

get a clutch masters stage III or IV. CFDF are junk. every one of my friends has gotten rid of their centerforce 4 months after putting it in.

i've had my CFDF clutch for almost a year without any problems....i went through 2 clutches before this one. it's perfectly streetable and i've used it at the track without any slippage....

I have the CM stage 4. It holds like a Champ....never any problems. Oh and by the way.....my buddy with a 1G FWD and a CM stage 4 Clutch put down 427HP to the ground and the clutch held with no problems! That's nice to know for me ;-)

hey whats wrong with a centerforce duelfriction clutch I have heard good things about them???
and I know where you can get em for $358.00
alot less then CM $737.00

General rules is you get what you pay for... How about the HRC stage V clutch? Check out HRC's website... Its a tough clutch

no you can can buy a cfdf from up to $695.00 it depends where you look!
hahn I thought that was CM they carry!

$700 for the CM clutch?? I think I would rather go for the CFDF for $375 or the 2600 or 2600 lbs pressure plate ACT clutches that are both less than $400. Just in case you guys are wondering, thats at RRE.

I just ordered a CM Stage 3 and I will let everyone know what I think after the install and break in period.

Well I've had the CFDF and CM stage III and the clutchmasters was better hands down. the CM never sliped. the CF does everything from slip on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts to chirp the tires depending on how it feels (and heat doesn't seem to be the problem as it has good days when driven hard too). Its been in there well over a yr and isn't getting any better or worse. Its fine in normal daily driving and for 1rst gear burnouts. But the pedal is too damn soft and its inconsistant. The only problem I had with the CM stage III was the $700 price tag (which is the only reason I didn't go back when my tranny blew). Next time I need a clutch it will be a CM stage 4. Its not so bad I plan on changing it any time soon though.

thanks for the info Stan, I was kinda leaning towards buying the CF but after hearing about your little experience with it, I'm having second thoughts. My friend had a CF but I don't know if its DF or not but his clutch pedal would sink to the floor without effort! I'm sure if the CF for our eclipse would be like that. Anyways, did you or anyone on the board have any experience with the ACT 2100 or 2600 lbs pressure plate clutch?? heard the 2600 is a tranny snapper. thanks for any feedback..

Im running the ClutchMasters Stage IV non-modular setup. It comes as a conversion kit to convert our stock modular setups to non-modular. Like others have said, the price is more expensive than modular setups. But what they don't know is if you ever blow your clutch disk with the non-modular setup all you have to replace is just the disk itself. Fry the clutch disk on a modular clutch setup and you are stuck buying another modular clutch package with flywheel, pressure plate, etc. And forking over $230+ dollars again rather than $75 just for the disk.

I've heard both good and bad things about the CFDF. Most of the good things come from people who aren't putting out more than 215-220hp, and going any quicker than mid 14's. Bad things have come from those who are putting out more than that and running high boost. Just can't hold the high HP. And there is the reason you dont see any Pro class racers using a CFDF clutch. In your situation since you are going to be running 15psi+, I would go with the CM stage 3 or 4. HRC uses it on their turbo Eclipse running 11's anyway. So you know it holds

And I don't know who said to look into ACT pressure plates but they need to look more closely at things. There is NO ACT Clutch for our cars, as of yet. Last I heard they were still in the R&D stages for one for the 420A Eclipses, but pushed that back in developing one for the Ford Focus first...damn focus

BTW, I'm running 18lbs and the CM non-modular Stage IV has held up with NO problems.
