74102, any reason i would be dropping too much fuel?
Posted by rgirard413, Jul-19-04 08:14 AM
I can drive like 10 miles and waste a 1/4 tank of gas. Plugs foul up like crazy. Is there any reason why i would be wasting that much gas. I have star stage 2, and the vortech fmu with missing link. Everything else is stock. I thought its suppose to increase only on boost, well if i dont boost it eats gas anyway and it also bucks and bogs down very bad. Getting no power cause its running rich as hell. Not sure if a sfmu would help out or not

are you running like 50 psi?

Speaks for itself!

well what is your idle fuel pressure. I think it should be around 45-50 psi. And I am assuming you have the largest disc in the sfmu?

I don't know what it could be but it looks pretty serious.... help him out guys.

its an FMU, not S-FMU, its what came with the turbo kit.

maybe you have an injector staying open.

Is it going up when your in boost or is it just staying the same? It could be you have a bad oxygen sensor and it's running rich all the time but when your in boost it's actually using the fuel. It could also be a injector like siueclipse said but if that is the case then only the plugs on the cylinder with the bad injector would be fouled. Like it was also previously said make sure your fuel pressure is correct.

Yeah, what is your idle fuel pressure? If you have a blinky light A/F gauge, is it cycling back and forth? If its not, then your o2 sensor is bad. Could also be your coolant temp sensor, usually when they go bad, they tell teh ecu its like 30 something degrees, and it dumps in lots of fuel thinking the motor is cold. Its the bottom most sensor on the thermostat housing.

well when i pop new plugs in they air fuel is around 14.4ish at idle, now its more like 17 at idle. It does seem to run better under boost but isnt pulling at all. And i think cause it is running so rich. All plugs are fouling real bad and not just a certain cylinder

What are you basing your A/F numbers off of? If its really 17, then that is extremly lean, not rich, so that can't be right..do you have any CEL's?

yea thats what i thought..its off my apexi turbo timer using the front o2 sensor values. I just cant come to a reason why its dumping soooo much fuel. I know its a bolt on kit and needs some tuning, but this is a lil rediculous
