74050, The End Has Come.
Posted by solareclipse98, Jul-17-04 09:53 AM
Dear Fellow Turbo 2GNT' People.

It breaks my heart to tell you that last night on the track Solar blew it's third engine. I take all the blame for not having it properly tuned before running it. The Dyno's in this town where all booked up.

I ran once and missed a gear and still ran a 15second qtr mile missing a gear going from 3rd to 5th. On my second run i ran a 15second qtr mile even blowing my engine half way down the track.

I have decided to part solar out. It used to be fun to work on this car now it's just frustrating and I'm tired of trying to make this work... I haven't had very much support lately on this board so i'm worried that if i went for the 4th engine I would really be on my own.

If anyone is interested I have a lot to offer on this car... from electronics to axles to slicks and what not. I do have a vennom manifold and that is going to collente. The block is still good and so is the head, It's obvious i just blew my ringlands.. I have no compresssion at all the bitch won't even start..

I'm even going to get rid of the bodykit so if any of you are interested let me know I will give you a good deal.. Financial reasons aren't why i'm not rebuilding... It's the frustration and the stress of this car that I think it's time to part with it.

I just want to get rid of the car so I'm easy going on prices...
I think i'm going to venture into the land of the Toyota Supra or 300Zx.... My heart wants to me to keep my 2gnt but i just don't think i have the motivation to persue it any further.

I will stop by from time to time to see how all of you are doing and plan on being here for awhile at least until this thing is parted out.

sorry to hear about your ride man ... anyhow i would land on the 300zx! but hey, how much you want for the venom manny and will it work with an egr and pcv and drilled for map sensor? also, what size of injectors where you running cuz i need some of them too!

damn sad to hear, 3 times thats horrible luck. Good luck witht the 300ZX or the Supra. I'll tell you this there's not as much space in those cars as the eclipse, so if your a big guy I'd look elsewhere.

I may be interested in the axles. Post up some information about them and how much you are looking to get.

Thanks,

sorry to hear man, but yeah, your other post that said you ran 15 psi on stock injectors with a too small disk in the SFMU pretty much says what happened. Thats officially when you cracked a ring land, and just damaged it more by continuing to boost it..You got to be very careful boosting these motors when stock, and esp when you run the stock injectors..

Agreed, that's a shame. I want the dumbest thing if you are really going to part it out. If it's an RS, which it looks like it is, the throttle cable. I can't stand all my cruise control crap in the way anymore. When your ready to part, I'll e/m you.

You know, your one of the main fucking reasons why I don't want to rebuild this motor because there are ass holes like you that have an ego problems that think they are the shit. Yes I made a few mistakes but I learn from them and thats how and why chose to do what I did. At least i'm man enough to admit i made a mistake, unlike some people i know that probably NEVER makes mistakes.

Man way to kick a guy when he is down. He made a mistake and he is admitting to it. You should be a little more contructive instead of an ass about it. I recall you posting some pretty stupid mistakes of your own on dsmtuners and noone busting your balls the way you are this guys.

What makes your 2 cents worth more than mine? Because you turn into an e-thug when you see someone down or is it the fact that you claim to run these amazing hp numbers that you have yet to show anyone proof of? It would seem that you are all talk.

Hmm from what i've seen at the IL meets, I'd be willing to bet he's all he claims he is. And while he was a bit... cold, I'd probably agree with what was said.

Anyway, I'm interested in the entire head setup. Email me if you want to work out details

Yeah, but I don't think a dyno sheet or even a timeslip is asking to much do you?

I'm not whoring the thread, I was taking up for the guy and you got all defensive. There is no need for you to get defensive siueclipse if you have a dyno sheet to post up then post it. Otherwise quit being a jerk to this guy who clearly admitted it was his fault. I think you just like kicking people when they are down to make you feel better about yourself.

Way to avoid the question. What are you afraid of? If you have the dyno sheet then posting it should not be an issue.

I'm not the only one who questions it, I'm just the only one who has the guts to say it. Would posting this in your other thread get you to post up the dyno sheet?

damn man, sucks that had to happen to you. that's what happens when you rush things and not being prepared for it. your car has potential to be a fast car, but you're missing the minor details on boosting NA cars especially when dealing with air/fuel mixtures. it should be easier to upgrade factory turbo cars, but you still might go through same problems whether if it's a supra or 300zx. it's best that the knowledge you learned on your 3rd engine makes you realize to do things properly the 1st time. you can get an EVO brand spank'n new from the factory for example, put all the upgrades you want, but all it takes is too lean or too rich fuel mixture, preignition, misfires, too much timing advance and say goodbye pistons once again. all the money you spent on your ride, you should at least dyno tune it just in case before going to any big racing event just to be in the safe side. well goodluck on your next ride...if you need any advice feel we're still here for ya. keep solar alive!!!

not to add to the drama here but i think James was insulted by this comment:

(I have decided to part solar out. It used to be fun to work on this car now it's just frustrating and I'm tired of trying to make this work... I haven't had very much support lately on this board so i'm worried that if i went for the 4th engine I would really be on my own.)

I have ready many of Solars questions and they are good ones but he failed to realize the support he was getting. That is kind of a kick in the teeth.

At any rate god luck to ya....my advise is get a factory turbo'ed car....doesnt seem like you want the constant tuning. Not saying thats a bad thing either.

I can see that, but with wisdom comes modesty and kicking a guy when he is down just so you can have the "I told you so" is not modest or wise.

Well.. It was funny after my last post I was contacted by someone who claims to know James... They said that they know the owner of the performance shop where he went to dyno and they said that he can barely reach 300whp if he is lucky. They also said they saw him run the 1/4 mile and he ran a 14second 1/4... So I tend to believe this other person until I see proof he is all talk. I was "Man" enough to admit my mistakes and trust me I learned... I will always love my 2gnt and I look forward to seeing Collente make my stuff work on his ride as he bought the turbo, downpipe, bov, wg, manifold and a few other things... I'm sure his will do very well...

the only thingi can say is damn nice 300. you will learn one thig and that you need a bigger wallet if you plan to daily drive that beast..lol I have seriously looked into a 300 as well as the rx-7 and the mainenance is what i refuse to deal with. everything is extremely expensive and i am talking parts only since i do the work myself. Have fun though, get hard pipes from stillen they look sweet
