Instead of buying a $360 n-tercooler kit from cry02 or NX, couldnt you just use a purge valve and run the purge line across the front of the i/c and then turn it inwards to face the i/c? then you could just turn a bottle on, and press the button and purge the nitrous or co2 on the i/c and get the same effect ? just an idea.

basically same idea. You are just buying a kit already assembled for you....convenience. Get some Aluminum line make a nice hoop for the intercooler and get a NO2 solinoind some stainless line and go to town.

Co2 is not flammable.....

I think he meant it as in detonation.
The cooling would be past 100 percent efficiency IMO, and unless your fuel system accounts for the denser air while in boost, it will knock. Or tune on the rich side while not on the cooler and loose power and waste fuel.
Well thats what I think he meant. Correct me if im wrong though/.

have fun blowing myself up? i am not even doing it, i was just asking a general question sucka. damn~ and there wouldnt be a big diffrence in a regular n-tercooler kit than using a purge valve and spraying with C02. your still getting co2 on your i/c cooling you right .... yes you are~

well cooler air will mean better atomization and less detonation due to a cooler charge. The manifold air temp does allow the ECU to measure the temp of the air comming in. If that was a factor then boosting in winter here in the midwest would be detrimental to the motor and its not so I dont understand why you think a cooler charge would promote detonation, it wont. A similer concept is the Alcohal/water injection. The alcohal and water cools the aircharge yeielding a similer effect however it add moisture to your intake air.

you cant blow yourself upusing co2. if you spray no2 then you are taking a risk. The oxygen in the no2 will promote a fire. That is it will not burn on itself but when mixed with a flammable like a cigarette or fuel/air mix it will burn extremely hot. perfect example is an Oxygen Acetalyne torch. if you turn on the oxygen and try to light it with a lighter....it will not burn. I get medical grade oxy for my torch and it wont burn either there is no difference in the two but some people would like to believe there is. You turn on the Acetalyne and light it you have fire.....a very dirty low heat fire. the oxygen is turned on to create pressure and heat in the flame. Why an i telling you this......
If you spray no2 at an intercooler.....lets say something goes wrong and causes a fire under the hood, may be small but a fire melting plastic ect, the No2 built up under the hood will feed the fire and make it unstable. you hood is now containing the fire and results in an explosion. The nitrogen in the no2 is only to cool the charge more effectivly, oxygen gets too hot when burned so if you ran pure o2 into your intake you would melt down in a moment.
Thats all for the chemestry less today fellas.
The only side to doing it without the kit is you need a co2 tank. I dont think its legal to fill a no2 tank with co2. matter of fact i am pretty sure it illegal :) besides co2 is cheaper.

jame (siueclipse) is talking only about our cars. james himself tried the intercooler spray. and it showed that while using the spray, our fuel system leans out. but to others cars, the intercooler spray works great.

Well, I disagree. Anything that promotes a cooler intake charge should reduce the likelihood of detonation. Furthermore, although you might make adjustments for a much, much colder intake charge through richening your mixture slightly, we do have IAT sensors if that was an issue. If it became so cool that your a/f required more fuel, the stock ecu could make slight adjustments. But I really doubt that cooling off your intercooler with CO2 would effect the temps and your a/f ratio to such a degree where you're working to promote detonation or causing what would otherwise be an "approproriate temperature" to one that's SO cold where you would need a greatly altered a/f ratio.
After all, you're only cooling the air to air intercooler to allow already compressed air to pack in additional O2 molecules. I doubt it would match the efficiency of adding nitrous or even water injection to the charge. It'd be more like going out on a cool night.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but as far as n20 being flammable, I was under the impression that the oxygen would only separate from the nitrogen and burn under extreme pressure, ie a combustion chamber. I have never heard of a nitrous powered car catching on fire or blowing up due to the nitrous exploding and burning. I have heard of nitrous tanks exploding due to pressure build up and a faulty safety valve, but thats it.

read my explanation above.......nitrous...or rather the oxygen wont burn on its own, it only promotes heat in an existing fire. nitrogen doesnt even burn.

actually, my IC sprayer consists of running a piece of rubber hose from my windshield wiper resivour to a stock eclipse windshield sprayer mounted on the front bumper. works perfectly.
i cut the power line from the inside of the car, (from the switch on the dash to the windshield wipers) so that i can activate the sprayer from inside the car and not look dumb by my wipers going off..

Actually Siueclipse is half right in what he is saying...
If you drastically lower the intake charge temp then you do increase density... now if you fuel system can compensate for this... which the stock fuel system can then you are ok...
But what happens if your running an 8 injector setup I wonder... well quite simply the EIC injector controller has NO WAY of compensating for the intake air temp...!!! So if you used something like the Intercooler on an EIC 8 injector setup then you could run the risk of getting lean... but we're talking a small shance here... only if you were alreayd on the edge of running lean...
You need a system like the stock ECU or the Megasquirt to ocmpensate for intake charge temps...
