I was wondering if anyone has used a 1g manifold for a custom turbo on a 420a. Since it will bolt to the 14b i have all i am thinking about doing is cutting the flange of my manifold and welding it onto the 46g3 one and bam, will it work?

Won't work, although I do know one guy using a 4g63 exhaust manifold and turbo on his 4 cylider 3rd gen Eclipse. I guess with enough money and fabrication, anything is possible, but if it was that easy, don't you think someone else would have done this already? :P

yeah but he must have the 2.4 4g64 SOHC in his Eclipse, very close brother of the 4g63 DOHC

and why trying to reinvent the wheel
just get a manifold made to fit the engine and the turbo

In summary ... NO :nono

I would not recommend doing any custom welding on a manifold, factory ones crack enough as it is. Welcome to 2gnt.
