72941, Star Stage 1 or similar Posted by Dave41079, Jun-21-04 04:39 PM
I need to know how intrusive an external gate is on 4psi with a non-intercooled setup. My friend had a Star Stg 2 he ran at 4psi for a while, and it didn't seem too bad. Also, can anyone tell me how the RFL sounds at 4psi?

4 psi is, okay. People sorta noticed when I blewoff, but it really didn't impress me. You have to hit over 6 psi, I believe to really get the rfl name going, and at over 10, it just scary.
I don't understand the 1st question...

What I meant with the first question basically is how obnoxious/annoying does it get to be. 4psi is pretty low, and I would imagine the wastegate would be opening fairly early. I just don't want the wastegate to be all loud at the slightest amount of throttle.

I'm well aware it's going to be doing its required function. My point is, if it's going to be open everytime i barely touch the throttle, I'll just route it back into my downpipe when I make it. If it isn't going to be that bad, then I'll just leave it open.

regardless of what boost...when the wastegate is fully open doing its job, its releasing raw unadulterated open exhaust into the air..its gonna be loud...but to answer your question- the slightest throttle isn't gonna open it..its a gradual opening until it reaches the max pressure you have it set, when it will be the loudest...
as for the RFL..its not gonna be loud at 4psi...deff doesn't wake up until 6+psi...god...its deafening at 9psi with a 57trim turbo...

Hey Dave. You know my ish wasnt that bad cruising at 4lbs for so long. When you get on it it'll open and be loud but when your normal driving you wont notice it. Youll prolly have to get it up to about 4grand before you'll hit full boost with that turbo your getting and you shift lower than i do. ya heard
