72800, somethings wrong here ....
Posted by eclipse982nrRST, Jun-18-04 04:30 PM
i was driving all day long today and the wastegate was opening good and turbo spooling great. now all of sudden at night, the turbo isnt spooling, you cant hear the wastegate open and the BOV isnt making the nice noise. if i had a major leak, i would be able to hear it and i dont and my boost gauge is reading my vac normal and everything. all line are connected. any ideas as to what is going on here ???

Check all connections for a leak. You've probably blown off an intercooler pipe at one of the couplers.

Also check the wastgate actuator arm where it connects to the turbo flapper. I know the HRC Mitsubishi turbos like for the tiny metal retaining pins to fall out or break right where it attaches the wastegat arm to the flapper arm. You won't build much if any boost if it fell off.

its the turbonetics turbo with the star kit, not the hahn so its an external wastegate and i will check for a pipe off but i didnt see anything.

Build a boost leak tester.
