72742, 450 inj. question
Posted by jwhit, Jun-17-04 01:50 PM
I am having a problem w/ running lean and some suggest that it might be due to stock injectors. I have a set of 450 dsm injectors with a resistor pack and I was wanting to know how low of boost I can run w/ them. I am happy only running 7-8 psi as this is my only car and I have to drive it almost 100 miles a day. I have an sfmu with all the disks and springs and bleed valve. Thanks for the input.

you will be safe with 8psi.

well if your asking idle pressure then set it at 20psi and slowly lower it until you get the right idle mixture. most people are running like 17psi but each engien is a tiny bit different. now what fuel psi at 8psi boost i dont know, there are so many factory like air temp, altitude, and timing advance (S-AFC) for a few. To be safe if you are running an sfmu then used the 2.72 disk with hard spring. If you dont have a wideband then get one or at least datalog your fuel mixture and make sure your as close to stoich as possible at each boost level. This is where the Tunering gets fun..lol

I ran 12 psi with 310cc injectors and the SFMU for a long time, never had a problem. 450s and a SFMU, you should be good for at least 15-18 psi. And don't tune to stoich..that equals 14.7:1 A/f ratio, which is def not where you want to be under boost..way too lean..lower boost levels can be in the 12:1- 12.5:1 levels, and higher boost needs 11:5:1 or so. Of course, you need a wideband o2 to get these A/F readings.
