I haven't had many responses to my other post so I'll try again. I just started my car after rebuild and HRC install, and my idle is crap. FP is like 53-55 so it should be good right? I've checked the timing a hundred times and seems right. The marks on the cam gears line up. Could I be off at the crank and still have these marks line up? Could anything else make it sound out of time? Please help I'm actually sick at my stomache over this.

theres your problem right there. it is hughely possible that they are off a half tooth-1 full tooth and still "seem right".

you should redo your timing again and doubly triple check your settings...

Cool I'll give it a shot. What is the best way to redo the timing with the motor in the car? I set it when I had the motor out.

edit: You know after I think about it, it seems like the timing marks on the cam gears were at the center maybe a little above before the rebuild. Now their a little below center. Does that sound right? Could someone post a pic of how it should look? Or does it really matter, as long as they line up? :shrug

The marks should line up and be parallel with the ground, there is no easy way to realyl reset your timing unless you have cam gears, you have to remove the passenger motor mount and all that to access the timing belt area, especially if you put the cover back on
