I just turbocharged with a Star Stage II a month ago. I have an AT, and also have the following done: 2.5" exhaust, test pipe, 315cc injectors, sfmu, missing link. I have a Dejon Tool boost controller and I'm about to hook it up. I just ran on a eighth mile track and got beat by just about everyone. I'm currently running 7 psi. My best run was 10.304 at 71.91mph with a .602 reaction time. The track is rumored to be slightly uphill, but who knows it might just be a story. My question is, what is a safe psi to run at. I still have stock internals. I have the ball bearing T3/T4 if that makes much of a difference. I don't want to hear "do a search either." Everyone can not possibly have the same setup as me, and I want to run at the most optimum boost I can without killing my motor. Please help.

leave it at 7psi, unless you have money to rebuild.

Well I "had" the exact same setup as you pretty much... I had the ball bearing t3/t4e trim Star Stage II. Testpipe, catback, final drive mod, and thats about it. But I'll show you an example :)

Just keep it safe, I wish I did... I thought my car had the balls to push 10 psi daily and guess what, It didn't LOL. But stay at 7 psi I would unless you have the $$$ to rebuild....
But I ran a 10.3 @ 75 mph on 3 psi, and a 9.4 @ 80 on 10 psi. Just to inform you what I ran with the same kit and yes I'm auto.
But If you have the balls run 10 psi it's your choice if you wanna blow it up. If you read the forums some people run 10 psi forever on stock internals and don't mess anything up... Then again some people run 7 psi and blow their motors... It's a choice but in the long run youll fry something :) hehe But remember the star kit at that boost level puts out alot more power then the HRC kit on 10 psi. So think before you turn it up to 10 psi... I wish I did... Now I have a 3k problem and a hole in my block.

I wouldn't run more than 8lbs of boost with a star stage 2 kit or a hahn stage 2 kit. Run 10 consistently if you want to do a rebuild sooner than normal.

BTW.. I run 8.9 in the 1/8th ;)

You guys are right. I was just a little ticked off at my results. Especially losing to my friend in an Acura RSX twice. He can stick his V tech where the sun don't shine! He spent $1000 to shave off two tenths of a second. I spent $3000 and shaved off 2 seconds. I guess I can be happy with that. I think I'm gonna start saving for the 2.2 stroker just so I can up the boost and whoop him like a red headed step child!!

You can also do some "cheap" tranny mods, such as shift kit, tranny cooler, final drive mod, the torque anti-reduction mod, and then go with the big mods like hi-stall torque converter. Check the auto section and read up.

What did your car run stock carbonfibered? I had 2.5" exhaust, and final drive gears and popped out a 11.3 best... So you said shaved 2 secs so did you run a 12.3 before?

I ran 10 psi for about 20k miles before I had to rebuild. I wouldn't go above 8 until you have money for the rebuild

The only time I ran it before going turbo was with shitty tires, and somebody in it. I spun my tires really bad, so that 12.3 was my best time. Now I have good tires, and had nobody in the car, but still don't have the final gear mod. From what I have read though, the final gear mod really does give you a good inrease when racing. Would you say that this is true? I might just leave my car as is, and buy something else. Maybe a TSi AWD? Two DSMs are better then one!

Yah the final drive gears are worth it. I raced my friend who had a RS nt auto at the track when he had exhaust, intake, headers, and i think thats it. He was kickin off like 12.4 and stuff. I had exhaust and final drive gears and I got an 11.3 still not good but it was a second better then him :)
Yah a TSI AWD sounds good to me hehehe. I'm going to pick up my 1st gen TSI AWD on tuesday its really nice.

1) Stock ATX is ass slow in the 1/8th
2) The T3 will barely be spooling until you get halfway down the track
3) Since you have supporting fuel mods, if you also have EGT, datalogger (read knock by watching advance), and digital O2 sensor (preferably wideband) then I think you can carefully turn up the boost, maybe 1 or 2 psi.
4) Stock internals only run at 9+ psi for so long. Count on your case being 5 minutes. Have a spare engine built already before you play with your boost setting.

I'm gonna look into getting that final gear mod. All I've heard is good things. Taproot, do you remember where you ordered the gears from and how much they were? Yeah, 1/8 mile does suck, but the only 1/4 near me is about 45 minutes to an hour away. (never been there)The 1/8 is just more convenient if you feel like racing but have to work late and are pressed for time. I found the TSi AWD I want. Just got to wait for when the guy is ready to sell it. Hopefully August.

A t3 spools a little faster than a 16g. On stock compression you should see 8 psi pretty quick, like before 3K. How much wheel spin do you get? Do you have prothane motor mount inserts yet?
