71266, built motor installation cost and help PLEASE!! Posted by actingrezy, May-20-04 08:07 AM
Alrigth well its finally time. I have my built block and have been calling around for places to install my short block. I went through forward motion (reputable neon place in delaware) they set me up with a place that does neon motors all the time. the guys said it will only take about a day to complete two days at the most. Now my question is they said they want about 1000 to 1100 but before the neon guy told me they would probably want about 7-800. now is 1000 to much to just swap a short block in.What is a reasopnable price? plus they cannot do it until june 1st i know thats only two weeks away but my car has been down for 6 months and im so anxious. is there anyone who lives in pa nj de or anywhere within driving distance that wants to make some money willing to help a fellow 2gnt member out and do this for me. ill even drive to you. i would love to help also that would be great but i dont want to get in anyones way. i just want someone that has done this before and has a car like mine and knows about our precious 420a turbo cars to do this because no one around here even wants to work on my damn car plus no one knows what they are doing because they think i have a turbo eclipse that runs like a 4g63. even car version 2 said they love my car but keep giving me the run around about working on it. it has taken so long to get this far i need someone that knows about our cars becuase after this motor is in i have money for an hour of tuning then im broke. Every shop i talk to seems to have no idea about our cars. its such a hassle. Sorry so long. Your guys help would be so great. ive been a member here so long and have learned so much i never would have made it this far without this sites information and for everones help on the forums now finally high boost almost here.

$1000 for a short block install? Sounds pricey to me. If you have access to the tools and have some mechanical skills i say get some friends and do it yourself. AZ 2gnt has done 5 full engine swaps. It isnt really that bad if you have the tools.

Try revising the title that actually has the location of where you are from.
And yes, 1000 is about how much I was quoted.
