Posted by manekone, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
well i cracked my downpipe. the crack is right up against the flang to where the pipe bolts up to the turbo. i'm getting it welded shut in about 30min. guy quoted me $90 to weld in flex pipe (parts and labor) called around and got quotes for up to $160. i'll be getting my flex pipe put in after i get my cv-boot fixed.......when will i get that fixed? money is a bitch.

How many miles did you have on the pipe when you noticed the crack?

Its 2.5" I thought about (and still am) getting a flex section added but when my exhaust needs to flex the whole damn exhaust moves , its not exactly fixed firm but I guess I will take head and get a flex section.

Interesting.

My exhaust is SOLID, save for one flange i just had welded in. I'm still running the flimsy stock motor mount bushings, too. Been that way since Dec, with no signs of stress...

Oh yeah I have a solid front motor mount. that might help. My downpipe is solid and secure(also with no signs of stress) but my exhaust from the collector back moves easily, you can move it side to side with your hands (not coming off loose butmoves enough to prevent cracks I think).
