70797, 3 bolt downpipe???
Posted by redeclipset, May-11-04 08:43 AM
I recently bought a downpipe from sommeone on here i think dougie2 and it had a 3 bolt flange down by the testpipe. Is this normal? also i was wondering if i could get an adapter somewhere there is a couple extra inches that i could fit some type of adapter. I don't have a welder or anything so i really can't custom fab anything. Any suggestions? :shrug

It's normal on 3" catbacks.

See here for matching gaskets and flanges: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/flangesandgaskets.htm

Also the HRC Downpipe has a 2.25" downpipe flange with three bolts which is the same as GM header collector flanges.

It's 2.5" but I used that downpipe as part of a full custom exhaust. I used a 3 bolt flange so it would be more sturdy. I thought I could weld together an adapter for you but even if I did have all the materials (which I have most of), I don't know exactly where the bolt holes are now without the downpipe here to align them. Just take it to any exhaust shop and they can remove the 2 bolt flange from your cat and install a 3 bolt.
