you NEED it if you want your car to run properly without throwing some codes.

Not quite the answers that are useful. :rolleyes

If your car is a 96+ then your car is going to hit fuel cut when your MAP sensor sees boost (or positive intake manifold pressure). Both Hahn and Star kits come with an electronic FCD (fuel cut defense) unit of sorts that is spliced into your MAP sensor harness. Some people have issues with these units and some dont. The other solution to protecting your MAP sensor from seeing boost is a mechanical one (i.e. the Missing Link). More often than not people enjoy the ML becuase it's an easy install and seems to work better than an FCD. Some people use both the FCD and the ML. I prefer the ML but had extremely minor stuttering when I went from static to boost in a non WOT manner. The last solution to protecting your MAP sensor is to home brew a voltage clamp. Any 3 of these solutions has been discussed here on many occasions and can easily found with the search tool. If I'm wrong then please point it out.

So 95's can get away without an FCD of some sorts! Those goofy bastards! :P

I didnt use the missing link that came with my Star kit. It threw codes when it was on. We took it off things seem to be better. Overboost store claimed not all motors need it. I dunno?

As queried above, what year is your car?
