69850, SFMU Issues/Questions/Confidence Posted by GTAGRIP, Apr-26-04 07:35 AM
OK, first off, I have searched and searched and got the answers to most of my questions but I still have a couple that are remaining. First off... the boost port. When I received my SFMU there was no screw or anything in the boost port. My understanding is that there is supposed to be some form of adjuster housed in that port. Does anyone know where I can get this part? Can I just order it from Vortech? Next question is the disk/ring/spring combo. I am a little confused on which one to use. I believe (from searching) that for my setup (8-9lbs w/ 30# injectors and the Walbro) I should be running roughly 22-25psi @ idle. Am I wrong in thinking that. Then I should use the 2.72 disk/ring combo with the hard spring? Which leads me to my next question. I read (in the search tool) that the hard spring doesn't come with the SFMU (I received 2 springs, 1 which is already in the SFMU and the other is a short dark spring) and that you need to order it seperately. I went to Vortech's website and can't find where to purchase it. Do I just need to contact them?
For some reason this fuel setup is confusing me a little so I want to make sure I got it straight. Thanks in advance for answering my questions (with I am sure some flaming) :) .

take a closer look in ur boost port when i got mine i didn't think there was a screw in there, and once i took a good look it was there, its in there pretty deep. as far as orderin the extra disks and springs if you go to the vortech site and click fmu's and then to sfmu. at about the bottom of hte page theres a whole disk kit with almost all the disks and the springs for like 46 bucks i believe last time i checked. hope that helps ya out. and i believe that 22 to 25fp is correct thats how i'm goin to settin up my system this week once the weather gets nice.

You have everything you need that came with the SFMU if you bought it from vortech or a supplier. The dark spring is the harder spring. 2.72 and largest disk is what you want to use, BUT I recommend you go with my setup. I made a custome bleed valve since I threw my craptech one out a long time ago because I didn't know what it was for. A regular bleed valve would cost you about 30 bucks, but the home depot one I made costs only 10.50 total for all the parts. Extreme97nt did an actual write based off my instructions. It may look a little ghetto, but it works damn well. I don't feel like searching, I'll leave that part to you. Basically I use the largest disk, silver spring, no ring and the custom bleed valve. My idle fp for the 30ibs is 25psi. I'm boosting no lower than 12psi with fp at 95psi. I just use the bleed valve to fine tune it. At wot in 5th gear and 12psi-15psi my digital a/f ratio is at .94 which is perfect.
