6974, Turboing my car in a bit Posted by Ryan_Hes, Jul-01-01 06:48 AM
Well, as you all know Jason_EsiT is turbocharged, and his brother Jarrad (JR0D_GST) just got a turbo eclipse also. We hang out on the weekends and stuff, and drive around the strip and whatnot -- well, I've ridden in both of their cars and now I crave boost. I want to have little more kick in my car, so I have officially decided to go turbo. :-)
As soon as I get my rims (18" Konig Tantrums), I will begin saving for a turbo by working my ass off for 3 - 4 months. I should be able to pull together $3,200 in 4 months or so- maybe less. Is there anything I should know about turboing an automatic? Also, any suggestions? What's difference between the NER kit and the HRC kit?

i know how you feel, i'm trying to save my money also. and the NER kit suppose to be better than the HRC and STAR kit. they have solved all of the fuel issues, etc, the intercooler is better and more efficient and it uses a T3/T4 turbo instead of super 16g. hope that was any help

Matt 95 Eclipse GS my babys stock right now, few months and i should be boostin' with NER!

I just turbo'd my car about a week ago (Star kit.) I love it. I went out to the local street races last sat, and I only raced 2 times, both aginst my friend with a civic. (He's done a good job building it. He did the usual motor swap and nos) But I still beat him both times :-) I don't know how I got along without boost before. An auto should be fine when you turbo it. It will fly off the line I bet, and since you don't have to worry about shifting befor redline, or missing a gear. You can just put the pedal to the floor. I have video of my races last weekend, I'll up them soon and post a link, then you can see the HUGE difference it will make.
