69519, couple various turbo questions.... Posted by lickscissors, Apr-21-04 04:34 AM
i still havent grasped onto a couple things....first of all, all of the sensors and stuff on the manifold that are run off of vaccuum, do i have to alter them at all when i hit boost? i know the map sensor, but what about the pcv valve? how does that work with boost? and EGR valve?.....next question.... can i use rubber oil/transmission cooling hoses for my oil feed line and oil drain line? i dont see why not, and it would be a hell of a lot easier? thanks doug

Originally posted by lickscissors pcv valve? I've never seen anyone turbo do anything other than maybe replacing it with a catch can. :shrug Not really a requirement as fasr as I know.
Originally posted by lickscissors EGR valve? Wouldn't worry about that one either. Block it off if you're concerned. You're better off without it imo.

So far, all the oil lines I've seen here in Phoenix are rubber, so I guess there's an answer too.
Good luck with boost man. I'll get there someday I'm sure. :thumbsup

the feed line has to be able to handle high pressure..so its not practical to have a large rubber hose to do this as that would drop the pressure..a very small rubber hose could potentially work, if it were able to handle 45+ psi...as far as the return line, i used regular rubber house for that with no problems..

I was thinking return line when I said the rubber hose would work up there. Can't say I've taken much notice of the guys' feed lines as of yet. :P
