Alright Im running a Turbonetic T28 turbo, with a Greddy large FMIC. Tuned for 20 psi and some other mods. But the question is this: how can i reduce the exhaust temp? Heat wrap? or an aftermarket exhaust manifold or what? Cuz today on the highway I hit 140 and hit the gas and my egt sparked to well over 900 degree celsius, around 9500 on the greddy egt gauge actually. And im trying to figure out how i can make it colder? Please let me know. needed asap!

i would think that an upgraded radiator from fluidyne and a spal fan for it would cool your engine down a good amount. i dont think its cheap tho.

its not the engine temp he's worried about - its the exhaust gas temp.
What kind of duct work do you have on the intercoler? Some ductwork might help.
Also if you really want to be blazing arround like that(if your putting that kind of load on the motor with that small of a turbo) maybe you should consider a turbo upgrade? A bigger turbo will generate less intake heat - which promotes IC heat soak - which promotes high EGT. Just a thought. An 18g or 20g or an appropriately build t3/4 can be more efficent(cooler) under load.
I'z goin 120 on the Jersey TP the other day...but no EGT problems, cause I'm not turbo yet :shrug

yeah.. recheck your fuel pressures. get a wideband and find out what your a/f is.

Yeah, for the sake of discussion - please describe what "Tuned for 20 psi" means. Is that dyno tuned - wideband and all?

Well I checked it again tonight and I hit around 900 which isn't too bad for the gst's. I also checked my a/f and realized im running lean which is what you guys said not enough fuel. I wanna upgrade pumps. Have heard both ways bout the Walbro 255lph. Whats your opinions? Oh neither wideband or dyno. Just Safc tuned.

900*C is about 1650*F which is a bit on the high side. What size injectors are you running? You should be able to fatten it up a bit with the SAFC. What are you using to tune with? I don't mean what are you using to adjust, but what are you getting readings from? Datalogger, DSMLink, etc? The 255lph will over run your stock FPR, but the ECU should be able to correct for it by changing the duty cycles. This won't give you a good tune, but you'll be able to drive. You can get an AFPR and it should be able to keep your fuel pressure in check. You should tune by knock and timing if you have a datalogger. I know several guys whose fastest times and most power were put down on 1500* EGTs. You can also have high EGTs by running rich, which most people don't think of.

One quick question, how high should I start worrying bout melting my pistons, etc? Cuz it seems like on this forum when i ask for help around this subject they dont consider it too high, then my buddy with a tsi said 900 isnt too high but start to worry if i hit 1200 celsius and i was like whaaaa? So someone put some truth into my life cuz Im no sure what to think right now, u guys are confusing me lol

900*C approches the melting point of aluminum. 1200*C means you have already melted something.
Is this a 4g63 or a 420A we're discussing?

It's a GST (4g63). First off you shouldn't be running 20psi on the stock fuel pump on a T28 @ 20psi. You need a bigger fuel pump. And it's not tuned for 20psi if you're running lean. Get the pump and retune your afc and add some fuel back.
